Recently I have gained an addiction to rebarreling old milsurps into common calibers, I am almost finished my cooey carcano to 7.62x39 build and want some ideas of others I can do. before anyone fries me I REFUSE to rebarrel any full length rifles and only rebarrel sporters that have been bubba'd to the point of no return. thinking of doing something with an sporter enfield but not sure what yet. maybe a sporter Mauser to but im fishing for ideas.

cheers

I'm still thinking of a 44mag or 44-40 with a 14" or 16" barrel.

I have enough sporterized rifles kicking around, but then I have some spare original barrels too, including one from a CNo7, 22RF

too many projects not enough time.

The DeLisle clone is a great idea and Pmatuk is the guy to talk to, he's done a few and they look awesome!
If you have a milling machine you can mill up a mag adapter pretty easily to use 1911 mags. Even easier if you can get your hands on one of the conversions that were selling here a couple years ago, I'm sure someone isn't using one they bought.

I did one, just a bit different ;)

Brazilian Mauser carbine, 45acp & 1911 mags.

20y 10 round target, iron sights.

Very cool!
Would love a conversion in 7.62x25
Enfield with s chamber insert and new bolt head?

Long smoothbore run before the bullet reaches rifling if a chamber insert is used. I would be inclined to set the barrel back, using a collar, so that the chamber has a conventional leade. Easy enough to counterbore a boltface, to get the round nicely supported. A new extractor would have to be made.
A magazine adapter could be made for 7.62x25 magazines - Tokarev, CZ52, whatever.
With our poor little dollar, a 7.62x25 reamer and gauges would be pricey.
The conversion would only be practical as long as there is a good supply of cheap ammunition.

Lee Enfields are very user friendly for rebarrelling experiments.

Next I'm thinking Mauser to 7.62x39 or maybe 7.62x25 and milling it to take TT-33 mags

Decisions decisions......hmmmm

7.62x39mm bolt actions already exist, do something that isn't already done.
Your 7.62x25 with mag adaptor idea gets my vote.

I got it!!

Mosin to 7.62x25
All you have to do is mod the bolt face/extractor
Mill the mag well and attach a mag release
Set the barrel back and rechamber(already 7.62)

Now you're talking!
Carbine is a must, pistol rounds will lose velocity with longer barrels, the 45acp sweet spot is 16", any shorter and you lose on unburned powder, any longer and you lose pressure from all your powder being burnt.
Go 18-20"and make an m38/m43 clone!
