So I may be convinced to not buy the savage 64 fv like everyone has said. I have the 597 hb and absolutely adore that little rifle. Has anyone tried the 597 AAC out yet. Some inside to how it handles would be great. Also is it the same barrel diameter as the 597 HB and just how long is the barrel. Most info does not state the barrel type or length varies. Don't want the normal 597 barrel just the HB version but threaded this time. If I could get the wife to leave my 597 HB alone i'd be set, but we all know it's best to involve them in the sport so when you buy another gun they can't get mad at you!

Well isnt the 597 HD 16.5? Well the AAC-SD is 20" barrel according to the spec sheet on the rem website and according to a post on rimfire central its just a standard barrel threaded.

I finally found a reference in a Remington catalog that confirms the AAC-SD is a standard contour barrel, not a heavy bull barrel.

Really, that's strange I just found a dealer that has them down as a 16.5 barrel. That's why I'm looking for someone who has one that can verify this. 50% say 20" barrel and the others say 16.5 just want to know if these are 2 different AAC types.

I did pull the bolt out and use some 00 steel wool and polished up the bolt, guide rods, and internal housing. Did a bit of fine tuning and never had an issue with it, it cycles subsonic rounds and keeps on singing. It's a hell of a great lil gun.

My Rem 597 HB , has a 20 inch barrel , I do not see any for sale with that barrel length ??

She a tack driver and loves Winchester Super X ammo best of all so far , not finished testing .
