got my new decapping die yesterday, used it quite a bit.
Measured some brass for the 30/06
cleaned up , primed and charged 50 of them.

Went to seat bullets and find that I had not sized that bunch:redface:

On a brighter note , the decapper pushed out all the primers nice and I am only out a bunch of time:rolleyes:

I had a similar experience. Loaded up 25 rounds of 7RM, it shot fine. Night before the next trip to the range, loading up the other 20. Noticed it was very easy to seat the bullets, not much resistance on the press at all. Measured the necks and voila! Forgot the neck size the whole batch. Turns out there was enough spring-back in the brass to give me about 1 thou neck tension, versus my usual 3. For sh1ts and giggles I only neck sized 10 of them and compared the drop, muzzle velocity and group size. No significant difference.

I once almost charged 50 cases without primers. That would've been rough.....

Lol I flip them neck up in the block as I prime them.

I had just finished loading the other 50 ..that were done in the size die...The bullets just fell in..no hope of crimping them

I once did about 100 300 WSM rounds without putting in new primers. I was using stick powder, so none of the powder got through the flash hole to tip me off of my mistake. Luckily I realized before my trip to the range, when I was taking them out of the reloading tray and putting them into the ammo box.

Does a neck sizing die not have a decapper? I only full length size and decapping and sizing are one stroke of the press. Why would you add more steps to the process?
I'm just trying to figure out how it's even possible to do what you did.

I bought a decapper only die because my break action rifle 22-250 seems to be ok with brass that has been only fired in it.

I was playing with the new die and loaded some I had not resized for a 30/06

Do you still neck size the brass for your break action?
I bought a single neck sizing die the other day to try with my 308 bolt action, I need to take a closer look at it and see if it has a decapper.

I may have to for neck tension.

Pretty new to reloading , so lots of learning going on

I got the lee universal de capper from Budget shooter supply (It was something like 17$ )

If it is a lee collet neck sizing die then it will have a decapper.

To the op, I am in your same boat - new to reloading and reloading 30-06. I have had a bit of trouble so far but I learned from reloading 22 hornet to do a few test loads start to finish before going through with a batch. When I was loading for the hornet I did not have my collet die adjusted properly and had some do overs until I got it right.

This time with 30-06 I did a batch of 5 loads and realized that the RCBS FL sizing die was leaving the neck too tight and I was shaving the bullet jackets upon seating. I tried the Hornady sizing die and the necks were expanded perfectly.

Right now I am just going slow and testing everything out before committing.
