Looking for some guidance on the best 1911 9mm magazines.
Any suggestions and/or opinions here before heading to a 1911 specific board.

(I swear I used the search function)

Thanks,

jg

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Those were the top brands I had found during my research, and actually the colt ones were mentioned (us site and feeding hollow points for SD)

Edit - I see it is colt / mec gar

Thanks again

Please have a look at metalform
STI use them for their oem mags
Most of the 1911 9mm feeding problems are magazine related, and metalform solves them

Metalform are blued steel and they will rust. Wilson combat are stainless and wI'll never rust. If you want the best value, get the metalform.if you want the BEST, get the wilson combat. Better tube, better follower and better baseplate.

Thank you. There are a few different models - am I just concerned with stainless and WC?

I shoot a bit of IPSC and the most common 1911 mag in competition is Tripp. I even caught a noted Springfield sponsored shooter using them at the last World Shoot.

If it works for serious competition, it'll probably work for you.

Yeah, the colt mags are great...for practicing stoppages. Tripp mags are the best I have used. I have also used Wilsons with good results.

Actually not true. Metalform makes stainless 9mm mags in 9 and 10 round capacity (w ww.brownells.com/magazines/handgun-magazines/magazines/1911-9mm-magazines-prod71632.aspx). Plus, if you're allowing your blued mags to rust you need a lesson in basic equipment maintenance.

I have used a combination of SS and blued Metalform and Mec-Gar 9mm mags for the past two years in PPC Service competition and can count the FTFs on two fingers (and no rust either).
