Ok I’m in the market for an M1 Carbine folding paratrooper stock and was wondering if any members here have purchase the one Marstar is selling? If you have one what do you think? Also add pictures if possible.

Is the folding stock Marstar selling accurate to the originals? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have a friend that has one, it has some issues. The stock doesn't lock open, or stay folded as well as it should, and the leather cheek piece is not quite as good as the original. It appears, at least to me, that the pistol grip circumference is a bit larger as well. There were also some issues in the way the band fits to the stock relative to the retaining spring. Most of what I mentioned could probably be fixed, but for the price, you'd expect it to be good to go upon installation. Anyway, I gave his a try at the range, and as you might guess, didn't like it. They are not really all that comfortable to shoot. It excels if all you want to do is carry it around folded all the time.

If you're looking for something that's more usable than M1A1 pattern correct, then buy a Choate Machine & Tool M-1 Military Side Folding Stock. I had one years ago, they are much better all around for a rifle that actually gets fired. However, if you absolutely must have that period M1A1 look, then buy the Italian knock off sold by Marstar.

I have tried holding one before, the grip was too small to hold so if you have xl hands like mine you may want to get a non-folding one

I have one that I had on my Inland for a while but like jokester said, it isn't very comfortable to shoot especially where your cheek rests against the metal rod. Only part I did like about it was the pistol grip. I shoot AR's as well so very similar.

I have one on my postal meter m1. I had to shim the spring because it wouldn't stay open while shooting. It's ok now but the pistol grip is pretty small. I can post pics whenever photobucket is online again.

I don't have any experience with the repros but I can say that I find my original quite comfortable to shoot. Of course at 5' 6" I'm probably closer to the average height back then that they were designed for.
