Canada Legal Norinco Revolver - Does it exist?

After having acquired a new Norinco 1911 handgun (NP29, thank you SFRC), and loving the quality of materials and workmanship of the unit I received (although I do have one qualm over the handgrip being overtightened on one side), I found out Norinco also makes revolvers for the police in China.

I'm hearing whispers of NP-50 or NP-216.

Are there any commercially available for export? Or is it strictly for Chinese police? Is there one with a canada-legal barrel length? Are we not seeing them here in the north because the US has an embargo against Chinese-manufactured firearms?

I'm not a huge revolver fan, but have nothing against them. And having found little to no information on this almost makes it kind of alluring...or maybe I am creating another lochness monster over something that is really no big deal...sigh.

Anyone able to shed any light om this?
 
I can't see why we would not be able to have them if they exist but unless someone submitted one to the RCMP for an FRT already you'll be waiting for a while to get your hands on one.
 
I think you'd be money and satisfaction ahead looking at a S&W model 10 and 14 respectively.

Or look at one of the Alfa Proj ones for a 9mm
 
I'm a big fan of Norc but not sure how good they would make revolvers especially for export. Naturally I'd have to buy one if they were available.

Nobody's been able to answer the million dollar question though...so I'm left to stand to assume it is not Canada Legal...but only on assumption.

The NP-50 has a four inch barrel. It would need a slightly longer barrel to be legal here. The NP-216 is a snub-nose, but as others have said, yuck!
 
I'm pretty sure Norinco would build the Model 50 with a 4.2" barrel if a large enough order was put in.

I'd buy one. I'm having a hell of a time finding a fixed sight half lug revolver that isn't prohib or outrageously priced for a clunker.
