Apparently the new Vanguards come with a 3 position safety.... Personally, I am a huge fan of the 3 position.... In my opinion, this puts them light years ahead in the value rifle segment that they were already leading....

They come in at a price point that puts them way ahead of the 783 or Axis....quality wise for very little more money, better quality and roughly the same price as a SPS, and cheaper than a T3. About the only thing out there that i see comparing to them for value in a lower cost gun would be the Zastava's.

That is a good assessment, while the vanguards are smoother and slicker, the Zastava offers up something in the value market for the difirst hard wood and blued steel guy.......

i thought soemone will finally announce the left hand version for good ....

I never did understand why they don't produce a lefty version..... They do for the accumark ..... They say the cost is prohibitive at the vanguard price point... But I wager they sell 5 vanguards to 1 accumark.... Makes little sense to me.....

Yes, the three main differences between the (original) Vanguards and the Vanguard II's was/is:

The Stock - went with the Monte Carlo style that is used on the Mk5's;

The Trigger - went the two stage trigger; and,

The Safety - the three position - safe/bolt locked up, safe/bolt unlocked, fire.

And No, NO lefties - Adam Weatherby has stated directly that the cost of tooling compared to what their demand would be is "prohibitive".

For 2016 there is a few new models hitting the streets.

The "lowest cost" model will come out as the Vanguard II "Select" - now the buck has fallen further since we put in our pre-orders back in December so the exact cost won't be fixed until they actually ship, but back in December the "projected" shelf price would have been somewhere around the $750 range.

Now that may sound "expensive" to some but here's a reality check (for 2016).

From the same buyers show the sticker price of a Rem 700 SPS (blued barrel) would be about $950 and even the "uber-cheap" Savage Axis (synthetic, bare rifle) for 2016 will be a $500 gun.

And again, that was based on a 74 cent Canadian Buck (early December, 2015) - at 69 cents "today" you can tack another 5% onto my (suggested) prices. We can only hope that the buck recovers "somewhat" before the mfg's are ready to drop ship this stuff.

Galamb,

Weatherby has nothing to do with the action: made in Japan by Howa.

if nor Weatherby selling them nor Howa importer are asking for it it wont be done ....
