Anyone using this pistol for IPSC? What's you opinion on this pistol. Seems like a nice gun for it's price. I have been using a Glock 17 but ready to try something else. Looked at a Glock 17L but that's 400.00+ over the FNH-9 I can't see the Glock being worth that much extra. FWIW and not shooting competition just with a group of locals having fun.
Thanks.

17L would actually put you into open class. Two reasons

  • It does not fit in the "standard" box
  • It is compensated

I have a Gen 4 G34 with about $1500 in aftermarket parts for "performance" that my wife shot in standard with. She shoots better with my SP-01 any day of the week.

Unless you are a really good shooter you are actually at a double disadvantage due to Glocks "typically" do not shoot as a well as 2011 platform pistols. Also the power factor scoring gets you unless you are shooting all "A"

THANKS! To all that replied.

The are great pistols. The trigger is pretty good but it doesn't have the solid feeling reset that a Glock has. Barrels are cold hammer forged, they are cheaper than Glocks, and they are made in the USA. I still love my Glock though.

Got a chance to try out the new FNS-9mm today. The pistol has fixed sights and shoots about 5" low at 25yds. Guess I'll be looking for a rear adjustable sight, any suggestions on a good replacement.
Thanks.
Might mention that I tried Win factory 115 and several of my different hand loads, none would put the bullet up where it should be hitting.

A couple of weeks ago, I had a chance to fire one of these pistols and I was very impressed! Excellent trigger for a polymer gun, nice ergonomics, nice sights and very accurate. I love my XD and M&P, but I would recommend one of these in a heartbeat to anyone who's on the fence. For the $350 deal I've seen, IMO, NOTHING comes close. Other options are twice the price. The only minor complaint I could find was the ambi mag release hit my knuckle on the opposite side and sometimes wouldn't go far enough to let the mag drop free.

Says right in the manual they are sighted in at the factory for 20 yards to hit point of aim. With 124gr blazer mine is 3" low at 10 yards and around 8" low at 25

Thanks!!! for than information, guess am not alone. 40+ years of shooting handguns I have a idea where one should shoot. This one is also way off to the left but that can be corrected with the present sights. The only possible way I see to correct being very low is with a adjustable rear sight. Now lets see who makes one for this pistol. I'll make some calls next week.

Are you saying that the gun shoots low and left?

If it's shooting low just take some (judiciously) off the top of the front sight...

Yes, low and to the left. One of the top gun IPSC shooters (At my club) tried the gun and he shot lower and more to the left that I did, only because I was trying to compensate , it was his first try. 3 dot sight system, I don't care if them now that I've given them a try, might be OK if the gun was properly sighted in. I hope to find a better set of sights.

Just got back from the range tonight and at 30 yards with 115gr hornady critical defense it hits bang on. Never tried closer distance as i only had a few rounds
