Hey folks,
I just ordered a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow Canadian Edition.

I will be shooting that pistol in IPSC. I want to order a 4th mag for it. You know that one with the red bottom? Where the heck can one order one of those?

Thanks
Stef

Join the equipment exchange if you haven't already and post a WTB ad in the parts and accessories for pistols category. There's a ton of stuff on there and it changes all the time. If you want to save a bunch of money and help out a fellow member, I suggest you do that

Don't order another one of those mags. Take the 3 you get with the gun, put in closet and forget about them. Buy a bunch of the new MecGar 10 rounders (full metal body) and use them. Those are what they issue with the gun in free countries where there is no mag limits (the 17 or 19 round version I mean, not the dimpled 10). The red baseplate mags are a giant pain in the ass to deal with for cleaning, and if you shoot on hard surfaces you will be disappointed in how they come apart on their own.

absolutely this ...

Buy regular ones, regular plastic baseplates........ like above post said. I use the red ones only when gun is at range for "normal" shooting. In ipsc you do not want to be dropping the pretty ones.

Just don't waste your money on the CZ ones that are of the same design as the red base plate ones. They are crap compared to the MecGars and more money as well.

I know Reliable has them, or has had them. I think they were $45 last time I was there. I would assume a lot of the other shops have them too. They are quite simply, a much better design than the old factory 10's and I don't know why CZ isn't shipping them with the guns as they are using the 17 and 19 (a 17 with a +2 baseplate) in their productions in countries that can have them. The other nice thing about the MecGar 10 rounders is that you can buy the +2 baseplates (if you can get them out of the US, European Arms still hasn't gotten their shipment yet) and put them on the 10 rounders, without increasing capacity (due to how they pin the 10 rounders with indents on the side) but making the mags much nicer to use for speed reloads. As well at the front of the mag, at the top, the MG mags have a bit more material extending up, which prevents the second round down from stripping partly forward and hanging up the mag if you try and eject it before it's empty.

I'm going to jump in and hijack this thread a little. Back in April when I was looking at buying some new mags before starting IPSC, I was reading that the MecGars had issues with the slide staying locked back after the final shot. 50% were saying they were great and the rest were complaining of issues, so I went with the CZ mags from CZ Custom.

Slavex, is anyone else in your circle of shooters using the MecGars and having good success with them, or is it just your experience?

Well, the CZ team out of Czech is mostly using them, the 19 rounders that is. but it's the same tube, the ones here just have dimples in the side.
Ok, the serious reply, yes, for instance last night at class there were 6 Shadows on the line, all were using MecGar mags. I know Snootworks had some issues, but I don't know that they are mag related. As well, there are 14 others that come to classes or matches locally, that are also running them, with no issues, that I know of personally. Likely more.

Good to know. Thanks

I still have some pinned 17rounders, but can't source the +2 baseplates right now sadly. They aren't cheap, so I understand people balking at them, I will eventually convert them to either match mags or practice mags as needed. They are black, so most likely practice mags as I prefer the chromed ones for matches (easier to clean)

Where could I purchase some for myself
