Ranger .22 cal

Hoping you nutz can help me out.

It says Ranger .22 cal, has no other markings, and no serial number. (doesn't say .22lr or .22 short....) but its a bolt action so it should be able to shoot both?
I did not lift the barrel and action from the wood to look for other markings, but I did take the bolt out and there were no markings inside either.
Can anyone tell me more about this gun? what it's worth approx.?

Ranger is a Cooey made house branded .22 It is a Cooey 75 without all the Cooey markings. Ranger was the house brand of the Eatons Department and mail order stores mostly post war. Prewar the Eatons house brand was the Eatonia also made by Cooey but transitioned to the ranger just some time before the war. I have one of these Ranger .22 with a Mossberg S330 receiver aperature rear and front sight. Absolute tack driver. Will cut the X out of a target at 50yds. They will shoot Short, Long and Long Rifle.

Here is mine. I restored it as the metalwork had been spray painted with a thick runny paint. Stripped it off and reblued. The stock had the former owners name scratched into it and had a biohazard symbol painted on the side. It was a travesty, had to save it lol

Good looking 22.
Looks just like the one in my cabinet!

Bottom one I traded a mosin I paid 100$ for

Top one I paid 80$ , was 3x better condition, target trigger, bigger bolt handle 82 peep sight, both apparatuses and aftermarket front sight.
 
Some Rangers were actually produced by Marlin after Cooey/Winchester closed down.
Rangers by Cooey were decent pieces and sell for $100.00 to $150.00 at gun shows.
 
With guns like that if the chamber fits 22 lr without resistance, then it ahould be good for both... but you might have problems with feeding from magazines fits not designed for it.
 
I have my post war (my dad says pre war) cooey ranger it was my Grandfathers and it's my favorite shooter dead accurate. It has no markings beside ranger on it.

You have very good information however yours is not a model 75 it is based off the model 78 with target sights. I've got both a Ranger and Sure Shot with target sights. Great work by the way.
