this is my first time posting here so hello :)

im a new shooter and i just bought my first Firearm,a Ruger 10/22 tactical, not the heavy Barrel,
but the one with the flash hider and standard barrel....16.12"

bought a Ati strikeForce (folding) stock that when folded measures 25 and 3/4 inches.

Could i Install a new flash hider to increase the length and make this Non restricted again or do i have to put the old stock back on?

Sorry if this is a Newbish question, but i figured this would be the best place to ask....thx in advance

The flash hider does not count towards the barrel length. You would have needed the 18in barrel for that stock, or you now need to permanently secure the folding stock in a fixed position. Many have used pins, jb weld and epoxy to perform this change. I'd suggest a different stock.

Yes you can...

you need more than 26 " you can increase the length with a longer flash hider. it must be not easily remove. ( install permanently)

Either weld or epoxy it on to the barrel was what I was told by a tech at the CFC, they won't accept permanent (red) loctite as it can still be easily removed.

Sorry... I responded too quickly. I also meant to say that the flash hinder does not count towards the length because it is removable. I contacted the CFO to ask this question also and I was told that since the flash hinder did not have rifling through it that it did not count towards the barrel length even if it was welded on after the fact. If it came welded on from the factory it may be ok... Not sure what the right answer is here then.

If you can't remove the flah hider by hand it' s ok.

Not according to the tech I talked to. I has to be a permanent addition meaning it can't be removed other than by cutting, grinding etc., at least according to him. He also didn't say anything about it needing to be rifled but they are only techs after all and I have had erroneous advice from them before.

Weed already legal ????

I just told it' s not needed to weld anything to have the minimum required- 26 "

It has to be 26" or longer in its' shortest possible configuration. If you can remove any addition to the barrel then that is the legal length and its' shortest possible configuration and if that is under 26" it is restricted or prohib. Even if you need a wrench to remove it it is still removable and thus not included in barrel length. Removing the buttstock is a completely different thing as the gun still needs to be over 26" in its' shortest possible configuration.
