Any polymer like gun that fires .357 magnums?

Not only per bullet is there more energy.... I'm pushing 1450 fps with 12.9 grn of Blue Dot and my load data shows near 600 ft-lb, but even with Canadian Mags I get usually 4 more rounds. If I could have real mags I get 15... More than double.

I own both, and shooting both, the seat-of-yer-arse-o-meter will tell you there's far more stank in a 10mm.

My 200grn loads are truly wrist snapping.

So I guess what we're proving is there's a lot of variety in 10mm performance, and given the right ammo, even factory, it can out perform the .357 in speed, energy, and mag capacity.

For instance, below is winchester's offerings. Now for the record, I didn't cherry pick these: Win only lists one cartridge available in 10mm (silver tip) so I just grabbed the only silver tip .357 they had to compare to.

Op, if you haven't looked into the 10mm for your purposes, you'll certainly want to. Personally, if I were to go towards something like a Desert Eagle to get .357 performance, I'd be pretty bummed that the guy next to me on the range could get as much whallup out of his little G20 or G29. If you're gonna go big, then go all the way, and get a DE in .44mag or .50ae

My humble opinion.

No there is nearly no variety in 10mm. Max i saw is 3 kinds from 1 manuf. others are only 1 kind thats it. The maximum numbers I`ve seen go to the .357 mag. from Buffalo Bore so yes a max load 10mm "can" outperform weak .357... otherwise, it doesn`t. Mag capacity is indeed the only thing 10mm has going for it.

You didnt cherry pick, you just didn`t have any 10mm choice so instead of comparing it to the best .357 they have you picked a similar bullet type? I give it to you it seems Winchester is the ONE manufacturer who has no superior .357 mag offering over 10mm. All the others I`ve pointed out do. And again the best numbers so far 687.5 at muzzle. and thats with a slower speed then reported in a 5inch barrel...imagine a 6 or 8 inch...

Hog, you are missing the point.

10mm is funny. For some reason, and I think it was weak gun design, ammo manufacturers load factory stuff low. When you get a strong gun like a G20, bets are off. Where the .357 comes in around 550ft/lbs the 10mm is around 600ft/lbs when you get to loads that approach the max it was designed for.

But:

-You do it in a semi auto gun.
-You do it with double the mag capacity.
-you do it with much shorter barrel lengths (this has been ignored but cut your .357 mag barrel to 4 inches and watch it all drop off, your charts list 7 and 8 inch barrels)
-you do it rimless.
-you basically get what the OP was asking for. Unless he is stuck on the .357.

In the end, all the numbers here show one thing. It's so close that that IS the point. It keeps up or exceeds .357 in almost all cases, or the difference is so close your argument is moot.

And no it isn't a .41 contender. Until you add up ft/lbs in the magazine I suppose....

Just pick up a G20 from Wanstalls great deal at 759.00 and 350 rounds of 10mm ammo 200 gr from Canadammo...

Should be a lot of fun, my first 10mm pistol, will match with my TD 10mm that also take G20 mags., all together, it make me 7 mags of G20... JP.

Yikes. You've got a real hate on for the 10mm eh? Traumatic experience with a Metric ruler as a kid? ;-P

Don't feel bad, my folks went straight to the yard stick...

Seriously though, why the 10mm hate? Surely you can admit that it's at least comparable to .357...

Yep you guys are right :) I guess I can't read numbers and those higher numbers on .357 means I'm wrong. It's all good I never shot a 10mm so I shouldn't make my opinion of it based on numbers.

Good day :)

comparing apples to oranges isnt helping. try max load 10mm vs max load .357. nice try cherry pickers.

You also have missed the point. The point is it's so close as to be splitting hairs....

Until you add in mag capacity, better recoil characteristics and faster reloads... That's why when faced with ( f:P:f:P: ALERT IMPENDING BEAR DEFENCE THREAD CHARACTERISTICS f:P:f:P: ) polar bears, the Slædepatruljen Sirius use Glock 20's, not .357 revolvers.

I like them both. A Coonan loaded with Buffalo Bore 357 180gr hard cast would be one heck of a bush gun. A Glock 40 or 1911 long slide in 10mm would also be awesome. In an ideal world, we'd all have both ;-)

Did you just take your .357 ball and go home?

No I'm just done arguing. I know you can reload 10mm really hot but you can also reload .357 really hot, hotter then 10mm but yeah no point arguing when people don't even read my posts anymore... Telling me you reload at 600 pound feet when I show you factory loads at 687...

But... But... But... Did YOU read your own posts?

If you look slightly to the right of the 687 YOU posted, you'll find another table there for 10mm that YOU posted. On closer inspection, you'll find that the 10mm is listed at 675... That's only 1 1/2 percent less than your .357... Out of a barrel that's EIGHT PERCENT shorter.

You're arguing again.

And that's what I load to, which was higher than most .357 loads. Again.... Splitting hairs. Double mag capacity, faster reload, better recoil.... That's simple facts past a small difference in ft/Pds.
