Thought I might post this here for those not following the SHOT 2016 threads. I was hoping to meet Ian and I caught him speeding by as we were hanging out with the Colt Canada guys. Hoping one day we can host him here!

@ Eaglelord17, thank you for helping fund my favourite channel!

Don't worry, I want him to be around for a while. I also donate to C&R arsenal (I feel they are a extremely promising channel at the moment, time will tell), and TFBTV as tend to make some interesting videos (I mainly only watch the milsurp ones, but they do some interesting things sometimes). All of these channels are politically unbiased, which says a fair bit about some of the more successful channels.

I also donate to C&Rarsenal as well. They clearly need more funding and more viewership but I wonder if it's just too much of a niche market.

TFBTV has been too biased for my liking at times. Often more opinionated than objective. For something similar I would go with the Military Arms Channel.

If there's one guy on the web and youtube who is as far away from Tactical Operator and SOF its Ian.

I'm tired of "look at me shoot this gun....how cool do i look?" videos and Ians indepth review, historic background and knowledge are amazing.

When i look at a milsurp i want to know why it was designed as such, how the evolution happened, what were the circustances at the time that led to that particular firearms design or features and Forgotten Weapons always delivers.

I'm glad and jealous you had an opportunity to meet him.

And here I was wondering who Ian is till post #20. Went straight to youtube, and there was one of his video's in my recommended list. Good one.

I'd pay a lot of money to spend a day drinking coffee and listening to Ian talk about guns. I don't care how well he shoots (and he's not a bad shooter, just not a great one - and he'll readily admit that), he understands the design and engineering and history behind the development of modern arms better than most people.

Heck, there's an hour long video kicking around somewhere of him giving a lecture on arsenal stamps to the FBI. When you get to the point you know enough about a given subject, that the Fed comes knocking to ask you to teach them, then you're in pretty rarefied company.

He's the perfect example of turning ones interest into a job, his early stuff enabled access to better and better collections.

He's successfully created contacts who've allowed access to collections (dis assembly and firing) of 1 off experimental and prototype firearms that most "experts" have never seen except in photos or patent drawings.

All the best to him, and he's one of very few people who've had access to such a diverse assortment of stuff.

My favourite gun related youtube channel by far. He is most certainly not some geared up tactical operator! He is knowledgeable, has access to rare gems, then goes on to share that knowledge.

In the shooting clips, he's quite honest about not being the best shot in the world, but it sure doesn't impinge on his joy doing it.

Would have been awesome to meet n' greet someone as dedicated to sharing gun knowledge as Ian!

Cool to see Ian get more recognition, he deserves it. Also nice that forgotten weapons/inrange tv are so free of drama and general bs. Some of the ultra rare stuff he's been able to get his hands on lately is awesome.

Also CGN: grown men overly concerned about men's hairstyles

Why the hell was my post deleted? I was complimentary of Ian and even linked to an epic 3 hour seminar he did on proof marks for 1890-1950 military rifles that he posted on Youtube. Should I have posted a picture of his ass too?

I swear this place becomes more censorious by the day.

Your post got the hell deleted by error; got lumped in with the 61 other posts that were derailing the thread. Posts have to be manually selected to be moved. Yours was accidentally clicked on. Go ahead and repost; it was worthwhile.

I'm man enough to step back and apologize. I had a near lethal day at work today and jumped when I should have breathed.

Here is the video if anyone is interested:
