I'm overly excited to get my newest purchase (Tanfoglio Stock III) from someone the next province over. I received my Transfer Notification (Buyer) in an e-mail about 20 minutes ago. It has a "New Registration Certificate #" for the firearm (assigned to me i'm assuming). My question is, on top of him getting an ATT to take it to the post office, is this enough for him to ship it off to me? Or does he have to wait for a letter or e-mail telling him it's good to be shipped? Thanks!

I believe he needs an STATT (CFO will send via email to the seller) indicating that he will travel to the nearest postal station to mail the restricted firearm to you and that is the last thing he need to complete the shipment. Hopefully you will be home or any adult will be home to receive the shipment. Otherwise, you might need an STATT to take the package from a postal station to your home. Some people will argue that as long as you do not open the package you will not require an STATT. My take is, be safe, don't take chances.

I just sold a restricted a few weeks ago. Buyer got his email and sent me a copy. I called the RCMP to make sure it was valid and they said I was good to go. Called my CFO and got the ATT. Shipped it that morning. At that point I had not received anything from the RCMP

Awesome! Yes I know he will need a short term no matter what. Indicated on my buyer transfer it says I do not require an att to pick up from postal office. So that I'm clear about. So I guess I'm just waiting until he hears from the cfo or if he calls and gets the all clear to get a STATT and ship it off. Thanks!

Oh good well I sent it to him as well, told him to contact cfo to see if we are good to go. And if what you say is true (better not be some damn liar!!!) then we should be! Thanks man!

C42 for now covers this no ?
But it do NOT cover the trip TO the post office

If you know that why did you ask the question?

I asked specifically if he has to wait to receive anything in the mail before he can ship it off. Pretty much I guess a question for people who have had the experience of buying/selling on the equipment exchange and how they dealt with their transactions.

I actually briefly mentioned this. On the email I received the portion that was personalized from the lady at the RCMP (that included my pdf file transfer notification) . She stated I do not require a STATT to pick it up. And that is because of bill C-42. But yes of course he will need one to take to post office.

NO he can call them and they will tell him.
They can email him the paperwork on the transfer if he needs to see it.
But if he calls them they Will issue him the STATT to take it to the post , in order to send it to you.

It is not his gun anymore, so he NEEDS to ship it

Here in NS we get paper copies mailed and normally will get a TAN a week after you call the transfer in and reg card 2 weeks after. Most of the time, wait 4 days, Then call the RCMP, they will say its approved and can be shipped before any paperwork.

Right on! I gave him what I've learnt here. He'll call the cfo make sure everything is in order. Get a STATT and we're golden.

Yes as above, if one of you get the notification of transfer, the gun then officially belongs to the buyer so the seller only needs a STATT to take it to the post office - at least this is what the Ontario CFO told me.

Interestingly I just completed a transaction with someone from Quebec who said she could not ship the gun until she had her copy of the notification of transfer in hand. She said that was the rule in Quebec. I don't know if that is the case and I didn't care about timing so I didn't verify but FYI.

He contacted CFO, they issued him a STATT and it is now shipped. Was all done really quickly. I bought it Friday at around 330pm. He requested transfer around same time. I was issued my reference # 10 minutes later (by 4pm). Called it in. Had to wait to receive my Transfer Notification (Buyer) this morning. Was issued STATT later in the day (he was working, could have been earlier) and shipped it off. I'll say thats a better example of dealing with times with the CFO. I've heard some horror stories, in fact my buddy is still awaiting a transfer after a month or so. Ridiculous, and they live in the same city. In terms of mine however, if we started it early in the day, it potentially could have been dealt with in one day and voila, shipped.

Thanks everyone for your input. Can't wait to get my new toy (not a toy, I know)
