Ok, Im super new to the M4/M16 AR15 platform. I was just in Miami and went to a Place called Lock n Load and was able to do some full auto!! Always super fun. This time I tried the HK416 I instantly fell in love with it!
I have a Ruger mini 14 in 223 so I'm familiar with the caliber. But the way this thing shot and felt was pure fantastic. I fully understand that a auto version is not a option up here. But where would one start looking for a legal 416 in Canada. Or are they even available.
That being said what would be a comparable rifle?

Sorry if this has been discussed before. Im horrible at searching.

Thanks for the replies. Been you tubing the MR223 actually the MR556 since theres a lot more on that one. Yup, its spendy for sure. But wow is it a fantastic rifle. Yup also know its restricted. Thats whats kept me away from this platform. Kinda wish I never would have fired it now. I was pretty happy in my ignorance.

I've got an HK MR556 semi version of the 416. My favorite AR. If you do spend the money on one, I doubt you'll regret it. That being said, I like my Colt Canada rifles almost as much, for half the price.

The closest you'll get to them in Canada is the MR223.

Take a look at the KAC SR-15. More readily available in Canada and, while still expensive, isn't ridiculously priced like the HK.

^^^This, with the MR223 you're paying for the name, at the end of the day it's still an AR15, buy a Daniel Defense and spend the money you save on ammo.

It is a rifle that uses an AR lower, but not the AR operating system. The top US, french, dutch, Norwegian and polish special forces all run HK416 for reasons.

American ( especially American manufacturers and those that count on making DI guns) all like to talk smack of HK. This is because it is always a throne to everyone in the US that their top tier forces and the USMC are using HK. They see it as as a slap on their faces ( and the entire industry) and a threat to their basic products. The general American gun buying public happily goes along with the anti-HK rhetoric because it is easier to dismiss things they cannot buy as inferior, rather than admitting they cannot access what the cool guys have.

You could also say buy Norc and spend the rest on ammo/etc. They're even cheaper than NEA. On a serious note I would buy an HK MR223...I just prefer a short barrel (like the 10.4", or 11" now I think). Since they can't sell civilians those ones yet I'm holding out.

I could have picked a M4 that they had to shoot. But really didn't have the interest. Wanted to shoot the best that they had. That was the HK416. And boy were the instructors there right on the money!!

It's a piston AR there are other makers who offer similar products for less.
