What is italian wood going for these days?.
I think I paid $250 for mine at a gunshow a few years back. Spent another $40 for the top hand guard as the one that came with it didn't match. Ended up selling the non matching hand guard for 40. Kinda pricy but it was one of those "had to have" purchases.
Jeez. A guy was able to buy a Boyd's stock set for about half that before the dollar pooped the sheets....
Now $250 seems really reasonable.....
The Boyds stocks for $104 USD were unfinished and without hardware.
The Italian walnut M305s were sold by SFRC as well as Al Flaherty's iirc for $800.

Yup, I got mine from Boyds about a year ago. Both pieces, IIRC, for that $104(USD!) which is now probably about 800 Canadian....
Be careful you don't split the handguard when you snap the back end on.
Trial fit til it's right. V-e-r-y gently. If it splits just a wee bit, it's possible to smush a tiny bit of crazy glue into the crack and wipe off the excess asap. That's what I did.
Also, you'll need a bit of trimming around the trigger guard to allow the 'safe function test' to work properly. This is important. You don't want your rifle firing unexpectedly. There are threads here explaining how to perform the SAFE FUNCTION TEST. I perform it every time I field strip my M-14. You may think your stock is fitting OK from the factory, but if it doesn't pass the function test, it means it's not installed properly.
Visleguy--Ya, I'm running out of excuses for my crappy marksmanship. ;D
My Boyds arrived nicely finished, I just rubbed in a couple coats of true tung oil. Didn't come with any hardware, but I cannibalized most of what I needed from the plastic norky. All except the front sling swivel mount and the ferrule.
I ordered them online. Everything else transferred right over, no prob.
LMAO, no idea what you're talking about!!!!
I was fortunate enough to have this stock come with all the hardware ready to go.

Er, sorry Visle, the first line was meant for you, about getting the M-14 sorted such that I'm running out of excuses...
but the rest of it was just a general announcement to those members who had assumed that ALL the Boyds were unfinished as were the comments about having to do some carpentry work.![]()
Wot's all this about an Eyetalian wood stock for $800...?
Hey, I've got a genuine 'Nam veteran (USGI) stock in my safe I could let you have for half that!![]()
