1911 style .22's, your experience with what's out there?

Hey guys, slowly looking in getting back in handguns. I use to own a Ruger 22-45. It performed very well, but it was top heavy and I was not a big fan of the grip. It felt cheap. So, now I am looking at the various options out there that actually look like a 1911. Let me know of what you think of the GSG, Chiappa, Browning and any other versions I may have missed. Personal experience testimonies would be appreciated. Thanks!
 
I have used several GSG .22's . The owners have no complaints over the years. They closely resemble 1911's in look and feel and the less than $500 price tag was a draw to them.
 
My first rimfire was 22/45 purchased a few years ago and I also disliked how it felt top heavy. Sold it and picked up a Sig 1911-22 which is the same as the GSG.
While the Sig shot ok it showed early signs of wear at the slide stop notch just from the slide holding back on an empty mag. (I rarely drop the slide using the lever). Sold it quick and bought another MKIII (non-22/45 model) and haven't looked back….
 
Just an observation from being around the range but it seems like a lot of the centrefire design guns in .22 require more tinkering and are more ammo sensitive than .22's like the Ruger or the Buck Mark.
 
I have a kimber that I'm happy with. Expensive but better quality than the gsg I owned previously as well as more accurate. Quite a bit lighter than the gsg though and some people don't like that part of it.
 
I own a browning 1911 .22 . I have very large hands and sometimes when gripping the pistol I don't engage the beaver tail safety . Everyone else who holds it didn't have this problem . I would recommend it if you have average hands .

Gsg fan....I'm on my second....goes in the range bag every trip...it's my warm up pistol...love it..shoots fed bulk all day...
 
GSG, or a conversion kit by kimber. I can't stand the scaled down browning. I have smaller hands, and it still feels like a toy, and a toy with crappy sights and trigger to boot.

I've definitely considered doing just that.
