2016 BRITISH COLUMBIA PRECISION RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIP
June 17 to June 19, Chilliwack BC Canada.
Match Directors John G. and Rod H. invite you to the BCRA British Columbia precision rifle championship . This is Canada’s premier precision rifle event. Drawing competitors from across Canada and the US it is a show case of top tier marksmen from the ranks of police, military and civilians alike. Shot by teams of two, shooters and spotters swap roles or fire simultaneously during stages. Solo competitors are assigned a partner at registration. Results are tabulated by individual and team.

With a course of fire spread over two days, competitors are tested with an array of challenges ranging from sub M.O.A. dots, target discrimination at 400m and movers at 600m. Additional matches may involve shooting from roof tops and from behind barricades.

Experienced shooters will find themselves challenged with the opportunity to be tested on a broad variety of simulations unique to venue. Come test your skills against your peers in this hotly contested race to be the best in Western Canada. The key to winning this match is to make the fewest mistakes.

New to precision shooting? We invite you to come out and see what it is all about. You will be exposed to some of the challenges the discipline demands as well as the
opportunity for mentorship. The best practice for this match is to shoot this match. Everyone had a first time they shoot from a roof tops or at moving targets and for many it is this match. You will find the match challenging and rewarding at several levels.

New this year. Online registration:

Happy to see this back this year. Took a quick read over the CoF and have a few questions/concerns. Was it by design to have the shooter/spotter portions hugely limited? Stage 2 and 3 (600m) are with a spotter but 4, 5 and 6 (500m/400m) are not. I am not saying it can't be done - I am just saying that it is going to make things a lot more challenging for a lot of people. Last year we had some incredibly heavy mirage that made target recognition with a spotter incredibly difficult - if we are not going to be shooting with a spotter at 500m then we are in a worse position. I am all for challenging stages, and new stages from previous years - but the balance of having a good time vs being unable to make hits because you don't have a spotter to help you direct your shots seems lacking here. I am going to be coming for sure - I just wanted to call this out as a concern, well before the match.

I have to agree. Hopefully we can get it tuned up a bit before the day. I sent one of the directors a note on the same topic lol.
But otherwise if you've never shot this match before YOU NEED TO COME AND TRY IT! It is a ton of fun and is challenging for all levels. No better match of this type in North America! Believe me I've shot lots of them. You won't find a better more fun group of guys and gals willing to help anyone with ANY issues/questions you might have.

We are all excited about this upcoming match and one more time I wanna say huge THANK YOU to all people who involved, organize and run this event. What would be great to see this year based on new COF.
1. Pretty much all stages are in "prone" position except "roof top stage" which gives more advantage to the "rifle" rather than shooter. Would be nice to see back "positioning" stages like standing, kneeling, prone-elbows(100-300yards), more roof tops which could nicely increase complexity and remove boring repetitive element from stages especially with more than 10 rounds.(2015 match Stage-9 proved that) .
My 2 cents.

I agree this is more of a known distance "prone" match with some variation rather than a Tactical Rifle Championship like it used to be, and called.(now Precision Rifle vs Tactical Rifle). I understand you are somewhat limited on a conventional DND range but it seems to be gravitating to more of a prone match. I have shot the match on 3 previous occasions and it did have less prone stuff like run downs, using your spotter a shooting support, some positional shooting, sling shooting etc. It is what it is but me personally would like to see more stages where you are off your belly utilizing barricades etc. In previous matches attendance was higher and shooters came from all over, great prize table etc. There was an incentive to come. Now not so much. The match was cancelled in 2012 and 2013 for lack of interest, that says something. Hope it gets better in the future. The Sniper's Hide Cup (PRS Match) this year is in Colville, WA. the week after the BCRA shoot. From Edmonton, the drive is pretty much the same distance from Chilliwack as it is to Colville. I know which match I am attending.
Don't get me wrong, it is a fun match and kudos to those who put all the hard work and long hours in to make the match possible. For those that live in the area and don't have to travel far its a great time.

Thanks for all the hard work guys. Much appreciated.

1 Request - Since there are a lot of stages where you are both shooting at the same time can we make it fair/even for everyone and say that you are NOT allowed to use a 3rd person (from another team or a friend or anything) as your spotters. You're only allowed to be spotted from your shooting team mate. Having a 3rd person call corrections for your team is a huge advantage especially when we are moving distances, like when we move to 500m, both team members are shooting. Having a 3rd person calling corrections to correcting your dope at the new distance is a big advantage and not everyone has that ability so I'd like to see it even and say no one can use a spotter who is not their team mate.

I'm interested, but I don't have a partner for LD shooting... I'd be Tyro since I haven't competed with rifle before...

I also need to find a spot or range that's farther than 100M for practice. Love AFGC, but the distance is limited.

I was in the same boat a year ago. They will pair up the solo people at the match. As for being a noob just jump in with both feet, you will be fine. I had a great time my first match and learned a lot.

I shot my first match in Nanaimo with about 5 weeks of bolt action shooting experience. I had a blast learned quite a bit. I also don't have a partner, but they will pair you up with another solo. Not a big deal.

Closest/furthest range in lower mainland would be Mission, with a 300 yard rifle range.

Would a DT SRS-A1 be considered in the limited class? It was designed with LE/MIL use in mind, and is chambered in 308 win with a 22" barrel. The Georgian military uses it in a DMR role.

Looks like it will be another good match.

As others have mentioned, it would be nice to see more barricade/improvised shooting positions, such as off your partner's shoulder or the under the car side prone...... ;)
