Hi, I just got myself a nice Merkel Helix in 308 and I would like to find a sling that would fit her well. What would you recommend me and where can I order it.

Thanks

I only use slings that quickly adjust one handed... I change my sling length 50 times a day depending on conditions and needs.

Are you looking for a shooting sling or a carry strap?

The rifle sling can be used as a shooting aid, and slinging up can increase the chances of a first round hit by as much as 30%. The slickest carry sling I've found for a hunting rifle is the Galco Safari Ching Sling, although the cost and trouble of getting one has become a little intimidating. The SCS is a split cobra sling, with an adjustable horseshoe strap that joins each side. When the rifle is shouldered, your shooting hand simply grasps the horseshoe strap, and pulls it over the elbow and up onto the back of your support arm. Once the correct length has been established, its unlikely that the horseshoe would have to be changed, since the length of your forearm doesn't change, and the lenght of the carry strap need only change with the season change to your clothing. Its the fastest sling up system I've seen yet.

What sling do you carry?

Browning® X-Cellerator™ Rifle Sling features a slip-lock buckle allowing for one-handed adjustments. No special fittings required. Use as a shoulder to backpack sling. Super swivels included. Made in USA.

Great! Thank you guys. Nice pictures Boomer, it really shows the versatility of the sling. I'm looking for a carry strap but if I can use it as a shooting aid as well, why not.

If you're going this route I recommend the Blue Force Gear Vickers padded.

It's another one of those gems in the tactical world that crosses over extremely well to the hunting world.

For a hunters "shooting sling" there's nothing better than the one Boomer posted.

For ME the best hunting slings are: (in no particular order)

- Slogan Outdoors (for carry sling)
- BFG Vickers padded (for quick adjust sling)
- Galco Safari Ching Sling (for shooters sling)

I've yet to come across anything better in these 3 categories.

Thanks to both Boomer and madashell for the info... Just added those to my "must get" list.

No problem Cleftwynd, glad to help a bit.

Boomer however is a fantastic resource. He's always got great advice. That's who I learned about the Galco sling.

Slogan outdoor: the best sling on the market for my knowledge but also one of my worst customer service experience I had... In term of communication and shipping time -it took almost 2 months to ship the darn sling (for the first time, I had to ask (FRAUD ALERT) to help me in this case because I was getting no reply to my questions).

Surprised to hear this. Have had nothing but excellent dealings with them.
