Hey everyone.

I am loading 200gn hard lead cast SWC for 45 acp. I just picked up some x700 and was wondering if anyone has any experience with that combo.

Thanks.

I've had a few loads with it, seemed to work well. 4.6gr with a 230gr plated RN seemed to be accurate and cycled the gun fine. I'm pretty sure I used 4.6gr for the few 200gr lead SWC's I loaded up, and they worked really well. Some of the best groups I've shot with my 1911 came from those 200gr bullets. It was a Lee 6-cav mould I was using for what it's worth, and the bullets were straight range scrap, so almost 100% lead and thus weighed in around 210gr.

I was thinking of running that exact load. 4.6 with my LSWC. I just ran 4.6 with 231 and shot a few tight grps at 10 yards.

I just realized I should have put 700x not x700 like a noob lol.

I am very new to reloading so thank you for the information.

It burns clean and makes accurate mid-power loads.

Two issues with it. It does not meter in some powder throwers. It binds up the drum. Works well in a Lyman 55.

It is a fast powder, so it is very easy to double charge a case. Be very careful.

Great in shotgun loads and is my go to powder for 12 gauge skeet. Not a fan in .45 acp - Scorched cases because of the fast burn rate. Accuracy (or lack thereof) was the deciding factor for me to say no.

Agree, loaded some with 700x because that's all I had at the time, use it for shotgun reloads. Was OK in 45, but nothing special, still metered terribly.
Happy when I was able to go back to Titegroup.
