S&W range kit question?

Rpal is in the system, so the wait begins,lol, but in the meantime I am narrowing down what I want for my first handgun. At this point I have it down to the Beretta 92fs, CZ 75b Omega, and the S&W M&P . I like the idea of the M&P because of the range kit, and the fact you get three mags, mag holster and holster, but I cannot find any info on whether I can order this with a LEFT handed holster? If I can, then it makes even more sense to consider it, if I can't and have to buy a left handed holster also, then it makes me consider the others on my list a little more. Can anyone chime in on this? Also any M&P owner who would like to share their thoughts on the range kit would be appreciated

If I were to buy another 9 it would be the CZ, I wasn't to impressed with the M&P. Ok , I guess if your into hitting 5 inch gongs at 15 yards. The trigger is horrible , at least compared to the Springfield RO nine and FN 40 . I've seen guys on here say the trigger ain't so bad , but I owned 2 and my buddy had one and all three triggers were terrible. And you'll probably want to change the sights on the M&P.:)
 
I recently purchased the M&P 40 range kit just waiting to get it and try it out. But I have fired the M&P9 a few time and it's quite the nice gun. The range kit is a very good value as well
 
As far as I know the M&P range kit is only offered in RH holster. I just went through this process. I was looking at the M&P9, Glock 17 and CZ. The feedback I received recommended the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow. I suggest you call the sponsors in your area and see who has one in stock and take a look. It is a very nice pistol. Note as a lefty the mag release is switch-able. Lots of good LH holster choices available.

Never saw a left handed kit, but thats not to say there isnt one. Just order it and sell it and buy another holster.
 
I have shot the M&P 9, and liked it a lot , but I still have to try the CZ and the Beretta, hopefully we can get out to DVC and rent them to try out, but as a first handgun I think the M&P is a great deal price wise, I guess I could just sell the holster and buy a lefty, or just keep the right hand holster for the wife, thanks for the info!
 
I own an m&p and a cz75. They are in different leagues. I shoot both equally well, but the cz is twice the gun. Especially for a range gun. Based on triggers alone, the cz would be my choice. In your case, the only plus with the range kit would be the uplula loader. It's a must for the super stiff smith & Wesson magazines!
 
i agree 100%, have both as well but my 75b is .40. Both are great, just different uses, price reflect that as well. Never fondled the omega. Got my m&p 9 range kit for 500 barely used on the ee. I know this does not answer the op question but ........cheers any how.

I'm a southpaw and bought the m&p9 range kit, regardless of it coming with a rh holster it's still a good deal for what you get. I just picked up a left hand holster for it, after all being a lefty I'm used to the bs that comes along with #### like this. If you buy a CZ or a beretta you'll end up buying extra mags and a holster most likely anyway, probably at a higher cost than the m&p kit plus a lefty holster.

It's a good gun and kit, just the mag loader it comes with is worth it. It was my first pistol, no regrets. It shoots more accurately than I do lol, it always performs when I do my part.
 
Check out the fns 9l. I had a m&p and while I really liked it the fn is better in my opinion. It is full ambi(I'm a lefty). I like the trigger better and to me it handkes better. More accurate for me as well
 
I'd concentrate more on the gun and less on what accessories you may pick up that are a throw in..

For me the CZ Shadow just has so many positives going for it..
 
The CZ and M&P are like comparing a Toyota to a Lexus, not even in the same league! If you are looking for a cheaper entry level handgun, check out the Walther PPX Range Kit. They can be bought for $550+/-. Much better trigger than the M&P, but still not in the same league as the CZ. We bought a PPX for my wife's first handgun, so far she loves it. The grips are quite unique and both of us feel that it is one of the best "fitting" handguns we have held.
 
Range kit is RH only, no provision for lefty's. Still a good deal, selll the holster and buy the one you'd llike, and your still ahead with the mags and pouches, but i'd rather have the CZ or the berretta for that matter.
 
I would check out the FNS9L as well, Get to a range and try different rentals. Green Diamond in Moncton NB has the m and p 9 range kit for 650$ I believe. They had 15 in stock 2 days ago. But to me the m and p is a nice looking pistol that feels good in the hand, but some shooters do not care for the mag springs being so tough to break in, and the trigger is not the greatest, realizing s and w sells a lot of these to police forces, sure they do not want the trigger to light. I said years ago that I didn t like striker fired polymer guns, funny now I think different, I still shoot a high power, but any new gun I look at seem to be all polymer-striker fired.

I just got the PPX a couple weeks ago and I cant believe how nice the trigger is for an out of the box polymer DA.
It looks strange but feels good and shoots great. Even thevsights are decent.
If looking for a budget plasti-gun ,its the best value .
The CZ is the best of the 3 mentioned,but as others say not a fair comparison to the others.

Yes the PPX looks like a winner, I have only dry fired it but the trigger seems great, I would check around I have seen great prices on these....3 mags...bonus 519$ at bullseye in london

OK the ad on prairie gun traders has m and p 9 range kit 729$ but those have 4 mags???? The one s I see around seem to all have 3 mags....
 
I have the M&P9 and the value is there for sure (as mentioned). I have also fired the CZ 75 SP01 Shadow. Now I want one of those too.

I'm full ambi with handguns, fire about the same with both, getting better - but my own capability is the limiting factor with all of them. The M&P is not entirely ambi - but pretty good.

My M&P always makes an appearance at the range, and I usually bring about 7 firearms with me - it's pretty accurate, light, the trigger is quite good and can easily be upgraded in the future.

The speed loader is only worth about $50, while convenient it's not a deal breaker for a firearm you really want that doesn't come with it.

Given the firearm climate in Canada I'd say get the CZ, it's not as though you're going to carry it (it's heavy) and the trigger, accuracy and recoil is amazing - it will make your time worth it.

If value is what you're looking for though - the M&P is great, it also comes in .22lr (got one of those as well) and the mags for the centerfire models are becoming popular in pistol calibre carbines (e.g., JR Carbine, Thureon Defense) - which gives you some expansion options.
 
Thanks everyone, I certainly have some homework to do,lol, I am torn between getting what is affordable and getting what I want! I love the look of the CZ the most without a doubt, but I am Scottish, so I like the affordability of the M&P hahaha. I haven't considered the Walther, but will look into it and the FNS also. My wife's nickname from work years ago is "92" so the Beretta 92 has got her vote :) the only pistol I have shot of those listed is the M&P, and I really liked it, but the only other pistol I have shot and can compare it to was a Ruger( can't remember the model) so I think renting a few to compare would probably be a good idea,,,, which will probably lead me to buying an Sp-01 Shadow Canadian Edition , just cause I love the look of it
