After waiting for a couple of months, and planning for about a year; I just received Tap and Die in M4 x .5

Who knows what for? Updates will come as I work through it, but a free prototype(and subsequent revisions) to the first correct guess...

Bad flashy pic...what's it good for?:

HINT: I'm just making one screw, and one lock nut (two, because of th'winner)

HINT 2 (I do appreciate the responses but I'm too excited to actually wait...) I'm kinda new to reloading. I wish to replace something without fiddling with the actual rifle. One screw, and one nut to lock it down.

- MY brother guessed sights. He n' Dad have real life training n'such with machining n' tool n'die. He assured me the only possible such use were for precision sighting, or anti-vibration application (possible application but not my motivator) and he was mistaken.

I know. It's for one of your custom Cooey bolt handles!!

lol..tinfoil hat wearing guy that I am, it's not big brother I have to worry about for stuff I've done; it's th'friends that will remind me! (it was a lowly lakefield MkII pics of awesome folk smithing upon request)

Hint 3: I love 'surps and rimfires. This not in anyway rimfire related

That's to make a gas-adjustment screw setup for the AG42B (of which I own 2 !).

WINNER WINNER WINNER
Tell him what he's won Rod;
One of those Ljungmans should be able to breathe a bit easier. Planning to make a longer gas port screw with a bevelled end, and a nut to lock it in place. If I can keep track if the original screw (ah screws...I remember the first one, not the last one), the rifle can be returned to original at anytime. The hope is to tame the violent action a smidge. Ljungman flung brass is almost as lethal as th'bullet!

Sorry about not replying to th'nation of origin, but it would have been too easy.

Where did you buy that from. I need a 6 x .5 oddball die to make a longer tang bolt for a new Miroku 1886.

These came from China (don't tell any real tool guys) and were purchased on ebay. Cheap but took over 2 months to get here.

I picked up some music wire, and brass rod today, and will see how I do with those.

I feel your pain on the wait. I needed an m6x0.75 tap for Aquamist water injection nozzles a few years back and it was very hard to find.

cool project you are doing, very interesting.

Honestly the far easier route would be just to re-drill/tap the thing in more conventional threads, but then it's "bubba" work.

I have run the die over 4mm brass stock, but hesitate to use brass for gas port. Haven't tried the music wire yet, but have also ordered some 4mm drill rod too.
