1953 Marlin 336 SC 30-30 Value PICS

These guys are being pretty hard on you on value.
If it has a good bore you could put about $420 in your pocket, if listed on the EE.
Even if the drilling a tapping is an after market job, as long as it is drilled even, this won't deter from the value, because only a collector would worry about that and this is strictly a shooter rifle. In the real world most hunters are now putting a scope on their lever action Marlins, so the base is actually an asset.
Same goes for the sling studs.

I disagree. I believe that year was called the "slick top", in between the "waffle top" and D'd and T'd and kinda rare. Owner drilled holes would knock serious value off. Bullseye can be replaced.

I wouldn't be so sure that its not factory drilled and tapped for scope mounts. First year of this was round about 1954 but Marlin is infamous for going back and forth a year or two with various options. And Marlin offered to D and T for fee if you sent the rifle back to them prior to D and Ting all 336 rifles in the factory. However it works out if the holes are correct alignment and spacing I'd say its not a detractor. These things used to be a dime a dozen but I'd say 4-500 is a more accurate range for today's price that it will sell at.
