restricted transport

My ammo is locked up at home as I have kids. In transport the ammo is not locked up as I am with it. Hard cases for my handguns. I would really like to use a soft case/backpack but I am too chicken lol.

Locking up ammo in transport is not required....so why would one do it?
firearm triggerlocked, or otherwise rendered inoperable for restricteds, in a locked container.
Why does this generate a thread every other week?

HOWEVER, for a few high profile lawsuits filed by crown, unlocked the ammo, visible or not, were considered unsafe handling of explosives.

Please tell us names of the cases.

Criminal careless/unsafe handling has a very high test to meet, e.g. marked departure from common stupidity. So we want to know those cases.

As for transport:

As long as gun is unloaded, trigger locked and locked again in the sturdy case, you did your job.
Remember, the crown has to go beyond reasonable doubt that you did not do all 3 of those. As for ammo, it does NOT have to be locked and it does NOT have to be separate from the gun. In fact, there is nothing wrong if it is locked in the same container as the gun. It can be even shown that you did go beyond the safety requirement in doing so.

By creating new "requirements" you actually cause issues to police, gun owners, and relationship between police and gun owners. You will create a wrongful believe in police that you do something wrong if you don't follow these "requirements". The gun owner may get wrongfully charged, only to have case thrown away in court or even by crown on day one. However, the negativity will last for a long time. There is enough mistrust between cops and gun owners already, why add fuel?

Can a soft case be a sturdy case?

I think this topic generates a thread every other week, because of how purposefully vague most of our current (disarmament) laws are.

Had my norc cqa taken down and stuffed into my 10/22 takedown case with a small padlock on it.

Felt pretty secure to me, but still not sure. Too much hassle to head back into town, get a hard case from CT, then back home, then right back to town for the range.

Point anti's. They won this round...
Can you tear into it with your bare hands?
