I stalked the CGN Rimfire for sale ads and -with patience and time - found a Marlin 783 and a CZ 452 varmint 22wmr both used but in 'like' new shape. I was also very interested in finding a 9422wmr but found after much reading that most guys had excellent luck with them but a few had not so good accuracy experience
To add: one enormous advantage of the 22wmr is that lighter handier rifles are more readily available than those chambered in .223 rem... which is a huge plus for a guy on a trapline

I love my h+r sportster in 22 Wmr. Unfortunately ammo is getting hard to find.
I have a CZ Lux in 22 WMR. It is a very accurate Rimfire magnum.
The best ammo in it is the 33 grain Remington Accupoint, closely followed by the cheaper, 40 grain Silver box Winchester.
Both these will shoot MOA at 100 7 out of 10 groups, but the Accupoint is slightly more accurate.
I have shot several coyotes with different WMRs, but all were inside 70 yards. I consider the 22 WMR the near perfect trapline rifle.

When I'm in the bush , shots are closer ( well inside 100yd ) and my Rem 597mag does it dog down 'n dirty.
When I'm shooting across fields the good ol' 6.5x55 mauser will blow them ATH at any distance.
Oddly enough , I've put down more 'yotes with my 12ga..dirty buggers want to eat my turkey dekes

went to the winter deer yard yesterday [january 15 ] and saw 2 fawns with terrible wounds from coyotes ..22 mag is good enough in my book for coyotes if they don't drop on the spot follow the blood trail ...i hate them with a passion ..
I have a 597 magnum with 10 mags. Love it, my truck gun. Read up on it, its a special child. Buy new as new come the third gen mags which function flawlessly. I recommend aftermarket springs, hammer and bolt handle. I also added aftermarket peep sights which makes it an excellent bush gun.
+1 on the 597 magnum. I've dropped coyotes at 100 yards with mine and have been happy as happy can be with it.... flawless performance. I've seen some folks flaming the 597 but for the money and semi-auto to boot it's a no brainer in my book. Like I said, mine has worked flawlessly but it's a PITA to tear-down and clean. My 597 has been through hell and back and still looks great and goes boom when it's supposed to. And yes the new generation mags are leaps and bounds above previous variants.
I had Remington 597 and while it was accurate enough I had to send it away twice for warranty work. Reluctantly, I parted with it. If I would have kept it I would have upgraded it with a Volquartsen hammer, extractor, Possibly a bolt handle, free float the stock, mcarbo trigger kit, polish the guide rod areas. All of which brings the price of the package together at a higher price then Factory OEM. The mags are fine. I didn't like the safety as it can be partially engage by the trigger finger of a left hand shooter.
Tell me about it. I drove 550km round trip to stock up cci .22wmr ammo. I usually buy from Cabela's when they have 99 free shipping events but it's been hit or miss to get my ammo there so I'm forced to make a day of it to get ammo for my 597.

last box of ammo I seen was 40 gr rem jhp. 27.99 per box at canadian tire. think I might sell my 597 and start reloading for my .223.

Ive used 22 mag on coyotes but I ambush them over frozen ditches and thick pine forests. Shots are 15-30 yards. I aim for the base of the skull or tight behind the shoulder on broadside shots. I've taken them at 120 yards. I small female and a decent male. I tracked the female over 900 yards and finished it with a 25/06 while it was 450 yards across another field licking its wound. The male spun a few times and dropped

Sorry to hear that you and your 597 parted ways.... I did the Volquartsen extractor (even though my factory extractor worked flawlessly). As for the receiver, bolt, trigger, sear and hammer etc etc, I just got my Dremel and jewelers rouge out and polished away and now have a crisp 2.5 lb trigger.... Oh and I bought an awesome charging handle made by one of our CGN members.. Still think after all that it's got a big bang for the buck, but with the availability and price of 22wmr I usually grab my 700 sps tactical or Mini 14 in .223/5.56 and use those.
The gun and bullet of topic will do what you are asking it to do within reason.
Not to mention the abilities of the shooter too.
But, the Yoddle Dog deserves better than to suffer a long agonizing death from a poorly placed shot from a poorly determined distance.
Suffice to say there are better guns and bullet choices for said activity.

Certainly, but there are to many determining factors to list here.
I will not chastise you for your choice, but the question is pretty vague and requires more information.
