Magnified optic for the 7.62x39

So I've been looking around the internet and came across the primary arms 4X prism scope specifically for the 7.62x39 round. This optic has been getting unreal reviews and with a price tag of only $259 USD. Problem is it doesn't sound like they are coming to Canada. I know Vortex makes a very good 1x6 but its meant for the .223. Everything scope out there that has range hash marks for longer distances is made for the .223. The only other one I'm seeming to find is the Trijicon TA33-13G but good look finding it. Is there some other optics out there that you guys are using that you feel you would trust your life with. I don't mind spending the money for something you know is never gonna fail. My last range trip my optics battery popped out three times in the snow, couldn't get it to stay in no matter how tight I could get it. Lets here it guys.

In my experience the various countries M43 rounds do not shoot to the same POI. So, unless you have an optic made specifically for the exact ammo you plan to use at all times (including the manufacturer) calibre specific scopes are not all that useful. Outside of military specific applications they're just kind of a gimmick.

7.62x39 has a pretty short effective range and doesn't shoot particularly flat. It has a MPBR of about 225 yards.

Without getting into the very high end optics, Trijicon, Leupold and Aimpoint all make very durable and proven optics. Get whichever you feel comfortable with, zero according to MPBR and have at 'er.
 
A wartak rail with any decent brand scope like Nikon, vortex, redfield has proven to me many times as durable opic system for the SKS. The POSP optic systems definitely appear as a robust solution as well, they offer many benefits too like quick dismounting/mounting, co witness iron sights and 7.62x39 reticles....

^This! And, I assume the OP's rifle is an SKS...?
 
You will more then likely never get a TA33 7.62x39 acog. I tried fornyears and no company can even import them cuz they are ITAR controlled.

So I ended up getting a Browe 4x optic (very similar to an acog) in 7.62x39 bdc which works pretty damn good on my VZ58 from Rampart.

If you are looking at ACOG $$ territory then the Browe is perfect.

I love mine. Glass is crystal clear and the reticule/ illumination works fantastic
 
bflies is the Browe American if so that like a $2300 optic which is crazy expensive hahaha. Where did you find yours. Is the reticle battery powered to illuminate? whats the finish like? and where did you buy it from?
 
whoops... I just presumed you were scoping an SKS, no sense having a POSP if you already got the Corwin mount..... Westrifle, East Wave, Kremlin Optics and sometimes Corwin sell POSP style scopes.

The exact model is the BCO 7.62x39.
Mine is the Titanium housing finished in black with green chevron and ADM QD mount.
Yes it is battery powered

On two of these scopes, the seal for the ocular lens popped out. Lost the gas and fogged.
I spoke to the NA importer as well the Canadian distributor, being Wolverine. I was told this is not a common problem and that I was the first they've seen this. Both places told me the same.

I have spoken with a few here, two members with multiple of same scope, and nobody else has seen or heard of this.

I suspect going from a cold truck, to piping hot water for cleaning, is the cause. Now I remove the scope to clean my upper.
 
Where could i get a wartak top rail for an sks and a leapers tri rail that goes over the gas tube for a good price ?

PU scopes works good. If I'd do it all again I'd consider a Leupold M8 2.5x or even a 4x if they weren't too long.

I've been thinking of throwing a Mosin PU mount and scope one one of my sks's. The hope would be it would leave it stripper clip ready. If I have to choose between stripper clips and optics, it's going to be clips every time.
