Syn stock for a ruger #1

I have an MPI on mine. I'm going completely non-traditional.

260 Rem, Cerakoted, fluted barrel, MPI stock.

I bought myself a B&C to use while I was getting around to getting the MPI fit.

It was horrible. I sent it back for a refund.

Thats the idea i was going for. Its a 6mm rem. Im still tempted to trade for it but corlanes said the MPI would be over a grand installed. Pretty steep

Portland Oregon right now, Pacific Northwest Sportsman's Show, don't have the capacity mental or guide wise to handle the big Vegas crowds.

Hate to say it... but the MPI is nice! Think I'll buy a couple sets. I felt bad doing this (hunting) with my No.1, want a switch out synthetic set.

Well... if worse comes to worse, you can switch the stock set back to purty walnut before the success photos are taken. ;)

The accurate single shot synthetic market was already fulfilled by the Handi rifle..... No need to turn a beautiful rifle into a handi with a nicer action....... JMOP.....

I think Ted's signature says it best....

I could see it in Ardent's case. An exceptional blank worth the price of a new No. 1 even before a chisel has been laid upon it; and you still want to hunt in the mountains with it.

I simply use a soulless tool (SS/Syn bolt action) for those mountain hunts where one doesn't have the time or energy to bother fussing with a beautiful walnut clad rifle. For less demanding hunts (and I'm still hunting hard, just not bashing scree for days on end hard) I pull out the No. 1. No synthetic needed.

Wrote this in a pm to a good member here and then realized it's likely useful to the thread.

I was actually pretty impressed with MPI, went and chatted with the owner, Lisa oddly enough (her dad started it and passed away last year). Anyhow I think you'll see some fairly big changes, she said her father was quite traditional and didn't want to shake up the models or construction, but now they're using Kevlar, carbon, air beads, yada yada and some of their showpiece ultralight stocks were less than a pound, shockingly light.

They said they would give a kevlar / carbon ultralight No.1 stock a shot, and were hesitant to give me a weight guess but seems like they figure 16ozs is possible.
