I recall many years ago Springfield 1911's had a 2-piece barrel...wtf I thought, you can see a faint line on the barrel hood by ejection port, close to the end of rollmark .45 Auto/ . I owned a Mil-Spec .45, a Loaded stainless model, and an OD Green G.I. Model, all having the 2-piece barrel.

My question is....what about the higher end Springfields???, like the TRP and Operator models. I'm pretty sure the FBI Professional model does not, having their barrels made by NOWLIN, but currently switched to NM .45 Auto made by Springfield I'm assuming.

I have been dreaming of getting a tactical 1911 to accommodate my classic Colt Governemnt 01991 .45 in blued finish. I want a bad ass tactical 1911 with Trijicon night sights, ambi thumb safety, combat trigger/hammer, beaver tail grip safety and that super ###y & durable Army-Kote black Teflon type finish the TRP features.

I love the Springfield Professional .45 and is my dream 1911 Hands Down, the Professional Operator is also to die for, but I like the cleaner look without the rail. A current production run / Circa 2015 Professional Model is such a master piece of 1911 perfection.....if I only had an extra 3.5K CDN

Sorry....went off topic lol. Any ways.....current owners of Springfield TRP's / Operators, MC Operators, etc does it still feature the 2-piece barrel or have they switched to the proper solid bar-stock barrel ???

Just wondering if my future TRP will have it or not....preferably not

Honestly, It doesn't really matter to me. Yeah, Springfield uses 2 pieces barrel and 100% MIM parts except barrel, slide and frame. What's important to me is my TRP Operator never missed a beat and I'm talking about a high volume of rounds. 300 to 400 rounds per practice. Same thing for my Trophy Match. I can't speak but the Loaded and Milspec but I've never heard of barrel failure due to a 2 pieces design.

What bothers me is their silly gun kote that wear out to nothing. They should upgrade with ion bond.

Browning HP have used 2 piece barrels for as long as I can remember with no issues.
I also would not use "high end" and "Springfield" in the same sentence though....they cut corners on everything to make those 1911's.

I have been dreaming of a springfield pro in the past. I had once inquired if wanstall can order it for me but the wait time of 2 to 3 years prohibit me to pursue owning one and the fall of looney stop me from dreaming.

nothing wrong with the two piece barrels. As mentioned above, lots use them with no issues. And 45 ACP is low pressure to boot! Hi Powers=2 piece barrel running over double the pressure with no issues.

There's always a few springfield pro on gunbroker. Use irungun to import one. You'll wait 2 months top.

About 3 years ago, Wolvernine on this site has a used Springfield Professional for sale, going for 2K ....no joke. A real pic of the actual pistol was displayed with the posting, it was in Excellent condition. They are truely amazing. What would I give to have a NIB Professional .45 with those 6 specially tuned magazines that come with it.

For me realistically, the closest I can come to that is a new TRP in Armory-Kote black finish, or the TRP Operator .45 with heavy bull barrel and adjustable night sights also looks like a freaking battle tank. When I get my black TRP I might switch out the grips to a nice redish wood grip panel like the Professional Model which looks super ###y in pics I've seen. I love the stock G-10 grips it comes with too also.

Damn Im obsessed with the 1911 pistol. Such an un-disputed champion with a 100 year plus reign of dominance. That massive 230 grain .45 calibre hand ball slug just gets my heart racing. I can't wait to get my Armory-Kote black TRP ;)
