Winchester 490 Deluxe Very Good

Looking to purchase a very good Winchester 490 95% off a widow friend, bit of surface rust, nearly perfect wood, two additional 10 round mags all in original boxes. Could somebody help me what would be fair to both of us.

I've seen them listed for the $400 mark, but not sure if they sell at that price point.

It's not a deluxe.Winchester only did one style of stock for them and the stock on that 490 is a standard factory checkered stock.It is in nice shape and $400 would be tops.JMHO

Unfortunately that surface rust kills a lot of value for a collector.

They are very nice rifles, though.

It is only a collector grade gun of someone collects them being as only one version made and a short production life they are not that saught after . Basically the same bolt as a Cooey 64 then restocked doth a full size rifle style stock . They are of reasonable quality . $300.00 osh

Hope that nobody pays that much for a 490... We all know what it could do to futur prices...

Those magazines alone are worth $70-80 for the pair. As a collectable, the 490 hasn't really panned out as we all expected back in the 70's, but they are a finely made, grown up .22 semi. The receiver is machined, blued steel, the barrel is highly polished, the stock is decent quality black walnut. If you compare those specs against any of today's .22s, they are easily worth $600, when you get the walmart-grade stuff made today for $400 and up here in Canada.
