SKS over gassed ? Anyone mod gas system ?

While I understand where possible bore obstructions would come from, how exactly would a plug damage the chrome lining of the bore?

Furthermore, what material would even be suitable for a plug that could withstand the high heat and pressure without degrading. I can't think of one.

Anytime you drill or cut into a chrome lined bore you risk damaging the lining. If it becomes damaged it can start to flake off and shoot out of the rifle.

I wonder if there would be a market for an adjustable gas system tube on a SKS. I'm not saying a DIY mod, just wondering if it would be possible to make a tube that has an adjustment built in where you could set it to bleed off at different settings, or restrict the gas that's allowed into the tube, or something along those lines.

Interesting idea! The Yugo has a valve on the gas block for shutting off the gas when using the grenade launcher, why not have a valve for gas adjustment?

Given the market on SKS mods, I think it would only be worth while if its a drop in replacement with no gunsmithing needed; I.e. if it could all be part of the gas tube assembly, so no modification to the gas block needed.

I'm kinda thinking like having the tube slightly shorter with the piston captured inside. The gas block end of the tube would be closed with some sort of adjustment block in it. The adjustment section would need to be removed (maybe screwed off) in order to get the piston out.
