I'm shopping for a new rifle. The Tikka T3 HB Varmint Stainless in .223 (1 in 8" twist barrel) looks good for my purposes - varmint hunting and shooting just for fun. Good accuracy is important. I like the .223 chambering for low cost and low recoil.
Does anyone have an opinion they want to share on this rifle? I've never had the opportunity to shoot one.

I love mine. I usually end up taking it for the girl to shoot and I take a larger caliber for myself. The low recoil and heavy weight is awesome for new shooters or if you plan on shooting a ton in a day.

You'll be impressed with how much rifle you get for the money. The twist is excellent too, I've had past T3s that have successfully competed out to 1000yrds with 80gr VLDs.

Tikka and Browning exceptional consistency and precision potential. Great rifles. The 55 grain bullet limit on 1:8" is absolute BS. first of all twist is a limiting factor with bullet length, not weight and besides for varmints you will want fast and light anyway, but most bullet types up to 80 grains work just fine. I love the tikka magazines and they are a smooth action.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better varmint rifle unless you went custom. Personally I love mine, 1 in 8 twist is perfect. Ive got into long range shooting with the .223 and am taking my T3 Varmint out to 900 yards with ease. The 1 in 8 allows me to shoot 82 gr Bergers but I did have to modify the gun to accept AI mags.
Gun shoots 52 gr Sierra HP's and 82 gr Bergers in bugholes. Its my most accurate rifle I have ever owned, I love it an d will never sell it.
