hk 243

It looks like a side folder from the few pics I've seen. And I have never seen it on any other rifle before that picture... Sorry my bad for not being well versed on every iteration of stocks out there.

Its not about shooting it out, its about the ability to buy any barrel and do a simple swap without some proprietary nut holding it on (to a shorter one for example)...

I suppose we wait until release for actual details and not so much of "hearsay without looking into it"

Of course you need a special tool to remove the barrel. That goes for most types of rifles unless it has some sort of quick-change system like the Steyr Aug.

Doing any barrel swap is not a "simple swap" unless it's a machine gun.

They HAD to make the HK243 barrel/bolt and trigger group completely 100% incompatible with the G36 in order for the German government to allow it's sale to civilians. This fact will help it's non-restricted FRT, when they get around to it.

The handguards, stocks and sight rails are all 100% interchangeable with the G36. As are the magazine wells. There are a whole bunch of parts available for the G36 series already thanks to Tom Bostic and Dakota doing the SL8-G36 conversions.

As for the barrel, it's just an armourers wrench and barrel extension rod like the AR15 uses, in fact I'm pretty sure that the same tools for the G36 will work although they are NOT produced for civilian consumption by HK. Besides, it's not impossible to modify a G36c/k/e barrel to work, and I'm sure given a couple years there will be armourers wrenches available from companies like Geissele or Brownells to change the barrel out. So if you want yourself a G36c or K it will be doable eventually.
 
I contracted out a local shop to make me and 10 CGN members wrenches. So they are out there, and it's easy to make more.
Hearing that the G36 barrels fit is great news.

you can install any bbl you want in the hk243 , "C" , "K" , 15.4 (nasa) , 20 inch , you name it .

trunion is the same , barrel nut is the same , the only difference i have found is a square bump at the trunion inside the receiver , just to prevent a g36 carrier to fit inside .

hk243 carrier has an indentation on the left side , trunion bump fits inside it .

you can even install any trigger pack you want in the 243 ....no mods at all .

So just "speculating" without seeing one in person, it looks like they went the same route with the BCG as the 416 & MR223/556. The barrel extension had a "notch" so that a FA carrier won't work.

All of the good G36 conversions are usually done with the single-stack SL8's that are very heavily modified to accept double stack magazines.

The USA has some weird rules on "Sporting purpose" rifles, things like collapsable stocks, pistol grips, flash hiders, double stack magazines are banned or not allowed in, although if you put enough USA made parts onto a rifle, it can be 922r compliant and you can do all the mods you want to them (no more than 10-imported parts) to not have to be deemed 'sporting'.

Now since the HK243 has double stack magazines, threaded barrel, pistol grip and a FOLDING STOCK it becomes horribly evil. Until the USA made version comes out and is 'assembled' in the USA with 10 or less imported parts... or something like that, I'm assuming the barrel, bolt and carrier and the furniture will be imported, and receivers will be injection molded in the USA for compliance...

Yep! That's exactly it, that's why a lot of companies like FN, SIG, Steyr and now HK all have production facilities in the US. Makes it a lot easier to make guns without dealing with import garbage.

The Canadian importer buys from Europe so we will get the 243 (already submitted to RCMP and available now). In the USA they will have the 293 and from what I understand there is no eta on production yet.
 
Kinda scared what the price will be though

might be the end of new guns for me for 20 months, disposable income has gone towards school.

So i guess I'm in no rush
