Sourcing Tavor QD mounts?

Looking to source/find part numbers for qd mounts for the tavor.

I know the 870 qd mount supposedly fits the rear, but im wondering if there is a part from the IWI U.S. that would work? Do there qd mounts bolt in or are they molded where the sling mounts in Canadian tavors are?

From what I understand the qd mounts in the American SAR 21's are a slightly bigger spec and don't fit our mounting holes. I would love to have them too, surprised a company hasn't manufactured them for Canadian tav owners.

The rear sling holes of your rifle would need to be drilled out in order to install any QD cups as the QD push buttons won't even fit the plastic.

For the front there is a part that is a QD cup, it is available on IWI US' website. It requires drilling out plastic, and also shortening the tube on the gas block that you thread your front sling mount through.

A mash hook fits nicely in the front mount, is QD, and requires zero work to the gun:

Yea Ill admit im not a fan of mash.

A.) They are bigger and bulkier then a QD
B.) They *can* scratch your rifle if the silencer is rubbed away.

However, it is the simplest solution.

HK hooks also work on that mounting point. They have fewer hard edges so scratching is unlikely.

I've done both the Mash hook and HK hook and prefer the HK hook. Less scratchy although it can be a bit of a ##### to get on and off. Sorry I can't help with the QD front mount. The 870 QD mount most definitely fits the rear though. It works fine, even if it protrudes a little.

I did this a while back, so I think the screw that came with it wasn't long enough. It was short by just a tiny bit. It was able to thread through the other side but not far enough for the cotter pin to go through. Ended up using locktite but someone else I know got a longer screw and was able to get the cotter pin through. I've been meaning to look for a longer screw but got lazy. I'm also using the gearhead works qd port cover and got that from ###### armory also.

edit: tried to type in name of the same place but it's replaced by ### why is that?

They're banned from CGN, let's just leave it at that ;)

The IWI front mount requires dremeling out plastic, and if you want it to sit properly you have to cut down the tube on the gas block as onetwentyish noted, or cut down the QD pocket itself from the rear. The SAR gas block is a bit different than the TAR.

Installed this the other day, used a rotary dremel to widen out the plastic ( 2 layers), and then used a mini Zip disk to remove enough metal off the back of the US QD to fit. I was then able to place the cotter pin back in to the screw after enough metal was cut/filed off the qd pocket.

Looks good.

I noticed travis haley video where they use rewr qd (870 works for us) and a magpul latch on rail. May try that.

Do you have more pics? Where did you source the qd mount?

I picked up a Gearhead FLEx QD mount. Installed quickly replacing other side of the ejection port. Prevents Tavor-face and is perfectly balanced!

As noted above, they're available from @.z.t-e-c.h A-r-mo-ry
