The dilemma ....

I recently purchased several thousand rounds of various ammo including 45ACP.

When I got it home I realized that one of the 500 round boxes wasn't 45ACP, it was 38 Spec. I don't own a .38 or .357

So the dilemma- return the ammo or buy a revolver I don't really want?

Really- any responsible gun owner should have a 38/357 revolver in the collection. Revolver all the way. It's too much of a hassle to return ammo anyway.

You can't return ammo. It imprints on you like a baby chick. Hence ... wheelgun.

Go to the gun club with your ammo, ask members with 357 revolvers to give you to try their guns with your ammo. Simple as that.
You might even get to know other shooters better at your range or even like the guns they shoot?
Otherwise no brainer, BUY NEW 357 OF YOUR OWN.

I'm with YoDave on this one. First thing that came to my mind anyway.

Of course, once you have a .38/.357 lever rifle, you'll have to get a .38/.357 SA revolver to go with it. Case hardened preferably. You'd look silly at the Cowboy Action matches with just the lever rifle.
