Ordered a VZ58 with side mount and low bridge mount. But I can't decide on a scope?!

I have been rifling through forums for the better part of a week and a half now.

I am trying to figure out a solid optic choice for the VZ-58 w/ Telescopic Sight.

I also purchased a CSA VZ58 Side Rail & CSA VZ58 Red Dot Bridge, Low Mount, 58-1-292-LR.

Now the big question. I am torn between the Primary Arms 4x Compact Prism Scope with 7.62x39/300 BO ACSS Reticle & Vortex Spitfire 3x Prism Scope. No matter how many forums I read... it seems to be mostly dealing with a .223...

However my VZ-58 is chambered for 7.62x39.

Some advice on these options would be excellent. Or any insight into something better for roughly the same price?

Cheers,

I have VZ58 in 7.62x39 with low mount. I am using Burris AR-332 and it works great for me. Right now wholesalesports has it on sale for 385. The scope is only 5in long and does not extend beyond the mount so it does not obstruct ejection. Very good CQB reticle with lifetime warranty.
Cheers

I just mounted the Primary Arms scope on my VZ 58 today and took it out to sight it in. I have the same set up as you except that I have a standard mount. If I had it to do again I would go with the low mount. I was running a red dot on it before and it worked well. I guess it depends on how far you want to shoot the rifle. I really like the Primary Arms scope and I think I will stay with that set up. Good luck with your choice.

I currently use the Spitfire with the CSA low profile mount, a configuration which I like. I was going to go with the Burris but I find that reticle to be hideous.

That's what I thought when I saw the burris. The reticle is complete trash imo. It's nice to see the variations in the setups. I think I am going to go with the primary arms. Mainly since it's made for 7.62x39 instead of .223

I hear decent things about the PA stuff. Post a review once you put some rounds down range, I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

Nice looking setup and all... but geezz that optic is WAaaayyy to high above the bore lol

It really is too high. I went with the standard mount so I could use the iron sights as well but I am going to get the low mount. It works fine as is but its a bit too high for my liking.

I would go primary arms, i would prefer 3x. but dat acss reticle. and the clarity is great. i just got one myself, need to mount it.
Where did you find the low mount OP?

I ordered my VZ-58 with telescopic, 4 extra clips, and both

Unfortunately there was an issue when I ordered my VZ. Something happened to one of the springs and had to be sent away for warranty. So I am stuck waiting for the manufacture to send them a new one to send to me xD. But that is alright. Good things come to those who wait!

I have a trs 25 on mine, il post a pic

To be honest I dont think the 7.62 x 39 is accurate enough , let alone the fact that most of it is milsurp, for us to bother splurging on optics. I find I can get decent groupings with my TRS 25 and im satisfied.

The PA scope is not splurging. I think you get a lot optic for $430 bucks. Its built like an ACOG but its meant for my beloved 7.62 round. Cant wait to get my VZ back from getting cerakoated. Been looking at this scope in my tv room for a week already

Just an update for this post. After much deliberation I have decided to go with the Primary Arms 4x red dot. Mainly due to the fact it is tailored for a 7.62x39. When I started researching the difference in bullet drop between the .223 and 7.62 I found that the reticle on the spitfire was not going to work great past 100 yards. I have to say that having a lifetime warranty would be nice. However I would much rather a optic that is tailored for the rifle that I am shooting.

Thank you everyone that gave feedback on this post. I will be posting a picture of my VZ set up once everything is installed. Then of course a short review on the PA 4x red dot.

Cheers!
