Didn't blurr it out but it is marked with the export sign! It is also mismatched mag! It wasn't refurbed but I thought it was issued, however I stripped it today and if it was shot, it wasn't very much! I got another 54 at the same time and it is refurbed with really nice parkerizing type finish rough stock but good shape otherwise! I have another 1955 and 53 Izzy on the way! Izhevsk is refurb!

So an unrefurbed 53 Izzy, with a mismatched mag...... and you stripped it???

Oh my..... Those (non refurb marked 53 izzys) aren't exactly common. Mismatch mag or not. Probably the one version with the laser etchings I'd actually buy if I had seen it. The laser etchings drive me nuts, but for a non-refurb 53 izzy..... That would have brought you more money that what you paid for it.

Field stripped, yea the etchings are something we may have to put up with for the time being, did you see what they did to the TT33, I think they could have hid it a bit better!

Haven't seen one yet. As soon as I see the etchings I tend to just keep moving on. Spoiled from the Polish and Ukrainian surplus that came before it. I guess if the right gun came along I could look past the etchings, but man are they ugly.

edit: Just saw them. Hideous.

yea at least they hid most of it with the SKS, I have 3 nice polish t33 and a refurb Russian!
I would only buy one of those ugly marked ones for parts at a very reduced price!

Give it time, as these import marked versions flood in I think you will see some guns increase in value just due to the fact they were "pre" export marked versions. May not be a lot, but when you have two of each sitting side by side, the cleaner gun will always warrant a higher price than the "scarred" version.

Hopefully there will be enough collectors around to create demand, or maybe the craze will pass, either way, these will be in my hands till I pass them to my boys! I thought of selling the refurb '49 but decided against it, if my sons have no interest then I will sell some, but more likely my wife will inherit them!

It's nice to see another clean IZZY 53 , There is not many here that are un-refurb, I already have one and I think that 2 or 3 other guys here have one.

I was just down looking for my '55 and noticed that the '51 I have is. Either non refurb or close to it, all cartouches there, all matching look nicer than I remember, I gotta get these babies out more often! :)
