has anyone used these primers and are they any good--issues etc.
as far as i know these are made in russia.
one primer i will never use again is sellier and bellot.
They are good primers. Good consistent velocities between all shots. I shot a string out of a 308Win last summer after doing some reloads for my stepdaughter. IIRC the max spread over 20 rounds was just under 25 fps. That is pretty good in my books. I don't use standard primers for my own use but seeing as these loads were for a recoil shy little person and the powder was extruded it gave me an excuse to see how they would perform.
The Berdan primers I picked up for reloading hard to find milsurp brass from CanAM also work very well.
I have used a few thousand of these primers ( large and small pistol ) .. no fails, but as they are on the high side of the hardness scale ( in my experience ) I personally find hand priming the Large pistol requires a bit more effort
Not a range, Norc surplus, S&B brass problem, just as much extra effort required with new starline 45 Colt. Great primers ..
I found that they have more of a tendancy to flip or seat crooked when compared to CCI or Winchester when using my progressive press. You'll notice it on the tray when you shake to flip them. Not a big problem, I just need to keep an eye out. The price point forgives a few bungled rounds.
The Dominion pistol primers I've used have all been satisfactory. The small rifle primers can be substituted for small pistol primers.
The large rifle primers are a bit large in diameter compared to other brands. I had to polish the insides of the pickup and feed tubes for my Dillon 550 to feed them.
I've used over 4000 (on the 5th box) of small pistol primers from dominion and I've used one box of large pistol. I haven't had any primer related issues in that time.
It's funny you mention S&B because that's the other primer I use with no issues. Both are both fairly hard primers, but none of my pistols have issue with them. What's your beef with S&B?
No problems firing small pistol or large rifle for me. Been using them for my 45ACP and my 308WIN. For the pistol, I've had a few primers go in crooked or sideways (1!) via my progressive press, but otherwise they've all gone bang, no hangfires.
No problems thus far. I've had a few them require extra oomph to become seated properly, but that may also just be tight primer pockets. Otherwise, they have worked just fine in .357, .38, 9mm, .40 and .45.
the first 2000 of these primers i had a problems running through my shadow (no issues in a glock). i was experiencing approximately 10% light primer strike but i recently installed a lighter firing pin spring and extended firing pin in my shadow and i ran 250 rounds though my shadow without any problem. i find they are a little tighter to seat compared to cci, s&b and winchester primers.
i am trying s&b lp in my new 45acp Starline brass. i am using a lee hand priming tool. about 1 in 10 primers i have to use a hose clamp wrench squeezing the handle to seat the primers. the fit is that tight. my nephew has the same problem priming his once fired norc 45 brass. he started seating using his hornady lnl press but half of the primers would need to be pulled because they would only seat half way if that much.
