I was wondering if some of you are experiencing or have experienced issues with the Applied Ballistic app? Last weekend, I went shooting at 700M with my 308 and found out that the APP was completely OFF. The APP was saying 60 mils drop where adjustment was done at 77 mils. All my data was reviewed by me and a friend; twist, bullet, velocity, etc... The velocity was also confirmed by a LABRadar (a few FPS off from my Chrony...). When I returned home, I deleted my ballistic for my 308 rifle and started all over. I found more bugs as the Nosler bullets (from Bullet Library) where listed under Hornady!!!

I wrote to AB this morning as I'm not very happy with this 30$ USD App. As I mention to them, I'm expecting professional results from AB. I use this app for my hunting rifles and need to have reliable data when shooting long distance and avoid missing. Also, wasting ammunition is not very fun...

I would like to know if some of you have had similar issues.

Cheers, Fred.

Without providing any details on your rifle, load and atmospheric conditions, it's impossible to say what the problem is. 99.9% of the time, it's bad user inputs or an incorrect setting with ballistic apps giving bad input. Common problems are entering G1 BC in the G7 setting or vice versa, or having the wrong pressure setting (barometric vs. absolute). The fact that you are saying 77 mils and 60 mils tells me something is not right as I don't know of any scope that has more than 34 mils elevation. Is your scope maybe MOA or are you missing a decimal point?

Best app out there IMO. Gave me accurate dope out to 1200 at the GAP Grind.

Kombayotch: typo error, I meant 6,0 mils versus 7,7 mils; this is major and not associated with atmospheric conditions. I had to be way off somewhere that's why I had someone else who's also running the App to verify all my data.

For your guys out there: Are you using an Iphone? I'm using an Iphone 6 with version 1.2.0? If yes can you please go in your App in 0,308 bullet library and tells me if you have the "Nosler" bullets under "Hornady" and vice versa? Easy as the name Accubond, Partition, E-tip are not "Hornady" bullets!! I'm thinking that at some point my library got screwed up or something else happened in the process of version update. So far, I've been only using the App at 400M or less because that's the longest distance my range has. It had been awhile since I've used the App since my rifles are all dialed in for 100M, 200M, 300M & 400M. It was actually my 1st time shooting that far (and loved it...!).

I may be wrong or made input mistake(s) like you say but seeing what I'm seeing in my library makes me wonder...

Thanks for your feedback. Cheers Fred.

My buddy is running it on iPhone 6 and he is having some issue after the latest update too. I have an iPhone 5 at home with it that I can check when I get home.

Have you tried inputting the BC numbers manually? If you go to JBM and choose the bullet profile with the "(Litz)" behind it and run a simulation, it should give you the same BC that is in the AB Mobile library in the output table.

If I go "Manually", I can enter Name, diameter (0,308 in) , weight (168 gr), length (1,22 in), velocity (2550 fps), MV Variation (0), Powder Temp (20 C), Atmosphere Std (ICAO) , Drag Model (G1). When I click "done" it says "must enter a ballistic coefficient between 0,01 and 2.0". Well there are no place to enter a B.C. number!! So it's a dead end when I try this.

Just ran the "Ballistic Calculator" from AB web site and it's bang on. I was shooting at 684 Meters according to my laser, I was using 7,7 mils UP and the program is saying 7,69 @ 680 Meters so it's bang on. Curiously they list my bullet on the web site program, 30 caliber 168 gr. Nosler custom competition, but I cannot find it in my bullet library on my App on my Iphone. I'm pretty sure it was there before... I'm telling you something's wrong.

Notice you're using ',' in place of '.'

Which are you using in the app? I get the same error in the Android version if I use the ',' instead of the '.'

Yup. On the iPhone 5, the answer is wrong too. It's showing 5.5 mils. Seems the iPhone version blew up after the last update and they are scrambling to fix it.

iSnipe on the iPhone is showing 7.4 mils with the same values. Ballistic AE is showing 8.1 mils. On the Android, AB Mobile is giving 7.6 mils.

+/- 0.1 mil difference is expected because we don't have the same values for scope height and pressure (or DA). Don't know what you're using...

I switched to Android because lots of apps are buggy on the iPhone, not just AB Mobile. The company I work for develops apps for both and the developers all loath the iPhone...

It all comes back to the "professionalism" you expect from a company like Applied Ballistic, that's why I'm disappointed... Guess that thread is over when I'll get a response back from them. I'll gladly post their response.

Thanks for your feedbacks my fellow CGN!!! Cheers Fred.

Here's the answer I got this afternoon from AB:
"We are working hard on fixing this. We have begun to back track what happened in the transition through Apple, and I apologize for this. We will get this fixed as fast as we can, and are working on sorting the library issue today."

So will see how quick they will resolve the issues.

I sent an email a couple of days ago to AB for an update since it's been almost a month, here's the response from them : "Actually we are on Beta number 2 for this, just waiting for responses from our testers. We will get it out when its good. But we are working on fixes every day."
