Hi I really enjoy skeet and am thinking of maybe getting into a 410. For the most part I am not a huge fan of over unders. For the most part for skeet I shoot Belgium made auto 5s 12, 20 and the odd time my sweet 16 as well as a twelvevette. Wonder if there are any suggestions for something to use for skeet in 410 that will not break the bank to much.
Thanks for the help.

Based on what it seems you like to shoot as far as the action goes I would say a remington 1100 in 410 skeet which are not impossible to find used and will not break the bank either
Cheers

just remember with a 1100 you are going to bend over to pick up them little hulls . AAs worth 15 cents each. a nice citori or a 101 fixed skeet chokes would be worth a look or a full length set of tubes .

You must have found a cheaper place to buy hulls than me for 1x 410 aa. I wish they were 15 here more like 25 cents down this way and impossible to find to boot :(
The Op said he didnot want a O/U and seems to like A5's for skeet which is why I said 1100 to keep with the semi action:)
Me I have made the full circle from the 4 barrel sets and then tubes right back to the set of the four gauge wingmasters where I started in the 60's and don't remember having as much as pumping again
Cheers

We got a Citori in .410 about a year ago. I justified it as a purchase for future little ones!!! It was 25% off when browning was transitioning to the 625's,etc.

I love it. It is expensive to shoot, bit worth it cause I like to embarrass my friends by beating them with it!!!

Dude!

Dont!

Just 410 shot alone will break your bank it aint like 12 g
its almost a buck a shot
so dont miss

If he reloads is it actually cheaper than buying factory 12ga. But I agree if one has to buy factory 410 is gets expensive quick based on prices today. Here they run normally $135 per flat of 250 for factory AA's
Cheers

Don't mind picking up the hulls and have a bunch of hulls and a reloader for 410. I understand the cost of shooting it and don't think it would be the gun I use all of the time. Just thought it might be something interesting to get. definately know I don't want an o/u as I have never had one that fits me very well. What are the 410 wingmasters worth?

Only the newest 410 wingmasters I think have choke tubes and just comes with a modified and I think you would be looking at a grand at least plus have to find and buy a skeet choke tube. Finding a vintage factory fixed 410 skeet is not any easy task for sure and if you do no problem for them to sell for $750 plus
If a pump will fill the need for you a BPS 410 with tubes is a much more economical option that is providing the gun fits you. It is rare I find for the remingtons not to fit shooters but a lot cannot use the BPS properly with respect to fit from my experience . Me being one even though I own some
I still have my original 410 skeet gun from the set of four and a second I bought after selling my back up one to the original set many years ago and I think it took me like 20 years to find a replacement. There are two skeet barrels , a fixed full and a 410 barrel that was sent to Briley for tube installation. They both also have the mag nut weights which were common in the day
They will die with me this time

Cheers

I would bet Spank you even remember when they released the matched pairs for skeet in 870 and 1100 410 & 28ga :)

Yes I had a family friend who had all of them. Thats where I got my 4:10. When he decided to sell off his collection my parents bought me the 4:10 as a x-mas gift. The fellow wasn't a shooter, just a collector so none had ever been fired. He had 4 skeet guns of each gauge in 1100's and 870's. The 20's had the LW designation on them.

Interesting to see this thread. I have wingmasters in 410 and 20ga.with skeet chokes from the early 70s. When I started trap and skeet shooting I couldn't afford the o/u or fancy autos. After you learn how to shuck em you aren't giving up anything to the other actions. You usedto be able to use the 410 in the 28ga rounds. The 410 will teach you alittle humility on the skeet field. A straight with the 12ga and 20 with the 410. The wingmaster is a good choice.

Well you now have two friends that has/ had all of them now.:) So many were split up it is real hard to find complete matching sets now I still have mine plus my original 4 gauge sets of 870 and 1100's in skeet but my 20ga's are the old X full frames in both
Here is one of my 1100 matched sets. She came with the higher end wood my other set didnot. This set the 28ga was fired 410 not. Only have one of the original hard green cases however they came in and missing two :(

Nothing nicer than kicking butt with a pump on a skeet field with the little squirrel guns as the boys call mine
Yep the old 410 is the humbler for me always has been. When I think I am the bomb and breaking everything in sight I go get the 410 and quickly realize I still suck ;)
