I used to do a lot of shotgun hunting but haven't for about 17 years . so now I find myself in need of another 12ga shotgun after getting back into shotgun hunting. I'm looking for a new or new to me 12 ga in a pump or semi. This will be sort of a do all shotgun(no slugs) but waterfowl, upland and fun,it will shoot some target loads.I do prefer wood/laminate stocks but would be open to synthetic if there is a need for it.
I want it to be chambered for 3.5" for goose hunting and a barrel no longer than 28". But reliability is very important.
blued steel ,no camo and I am not recoil sensitive .
willing to spend +/- $1000.
any suggestions of brands/ models or experience good or bad with said brands/models is appreciated .

Only because I have one and love it and it fits me, Stoeger M3500 meets all your requirements except the wood. Throw in a little more you could get into a Browning.

With that budget, consider posting a WTB ad for either a used Beretta A391, A400 or a Wingmaster 3.5" Magnum.

Geese haven't changed. You can still kill them with 2-3/4" shells. Lots of people here were in the same boat; bought a 3.5" gun "just in case", fired a few 3.5" shells, and then said Never Again.

My 80's wingmaster was an awesome gun , loved that gun. I was just unsure of remington's q/c these days.
I fired a bunch of 3.5 " #2 last fall and it did have fairly stout recoil I found it to be really good for longer shots.

Fixed...

This is something to think about. Most people are in the "wow!! that 3.5 is something!!" camp, and never do it again.

Debatable for turkey.

I am a believer in 2 3/4.

If you can find me a 3.5 inch wing master. I will buy it in a heart beat .Thy are like near impossible to find .you can find a 870 super mag .but a wingmaster is the holy grail.Dutch

I've been looking at Beretta. The only thing that I find frustrating is that the gun stores around here mostly carry synthetic stocked guns .I guess I'm behind the times cause I really prefer wood stocks and I like to see how the gun feels, balances and looks before I buy. I don't want to lay a deposit down on a special order gun and not like the gun when it shows up.

I didnot say anything when I seen that since I don't want to seem like I pick on claven2 since that is never my intent. We just differ in opinions sometimes which is fine :)
They quickly became collector pieces after the short release not to mention there may have been a handful came to canada. I preordered mine and I know there was 6 or 8 I cannot remember came in with that order and looking back I should have taken them all
I have never seen one for sale since and I know when VLT79 was looking for one and he turns over every rock ended up getting one state side and shipping it up
All we can hope is remington does another release in the future. I did manage to pick up a new spare barrel off one from gravel since but never another gun
I put her is the group with my 16ga 870 factory skeet I have been looking for since probally 40 years :( and still looking
Cheers
