Ok ill bite. A lot of opinions.

What is Europes most popular caliber?
According to the Poll the 6.5x55 is , but in reality it's the 7x64- at least for main land Europe. I'm not to sure what's popular in the United Kingdom...but im guessing most likely 275 Rigby (7x57)

Edit: after some more searching the 308 win is the most popular cartridge in England. It's popularity in England is considered to be that of the 30-06 in the United States.

^ most Germans and Swiss and many French speak English. Try your luck with an international forum.

Russia is one of the countries with a strange shotgun law.

why wasnt the .243W also listed? pretty popular in the UK and I suspect in Austria. Overall I would be surprised if the 30/06 wasnt the leader in cartridge sales though.

if you can find a caliber that will work for all those hunts then you have the right caliber .....

^ for one Canton you did not include Graubünden (Grisons pour vous) they have an interesting rule that you can only hunt with 10.3x60R.

My central European relatives in Europe = 7x64 (awesome cartridge)

8x57 is also very popular and a large selection of quality commercial hunting cartridges is widely available, not the watered-down stuff we find here.

I would assume 6.5x55 is also very popular in Sweden, Finland, Demark, and Norway.

By my experience: 308 win, 8x57 & everybody has or dreams about a 9.3x62 (it is kind of the equivalent of 338 Win mag + 45/70 here) for big game. I've seen also 7.62x54 in eastern Europe. No magnums whatsoever...
