Been kinda thinking I might want a Skorpion. Is there any real differences between all the models currently available in Canada?

Should I look at one in .380 or .32acp? I am not familiar with either type of pistol round. So im unsure if one is significantly better then the other. I assume the .380 round is cheaper?

Thanks for any advice.

These would have been so bad ass if they had been classified as a pistol and allowed to have 10rd mags

Uhh

Prohibited Weapons Order No. 11
....
The firearm of the design commonly known as the Skorpion Auto Pistol, and any variant or modified version of it.
....

Did they un-prohibit it?

First they didn't un-prohib anything. They classed it as a rifle thus restricted due to barrel length

Second, either caliber is around or more expensive then 9mm.

Are they tons oF fun- HELL YEAH.

I enjoyed both calibers when I had them but my favorite is and will always be the 32acp. Classic and original look

How is 32acp to get these days? I seem to remember there being a lot of complaints about the difficulty of getting ammo a year or two ago..?

The Zastava ones have a metal selector, but is the reverse to that of the CSA skorpion (the CSA selector is more natural to activate--down motion is to fire). BUT the csa selector is made of polymer if that matters.
If I were you, I'd stick with the 32 caliber--mags seem more availble from more sources.

I'm one of these weird guys who actually like to stretch out shooting at the distances indicated on the rear sight. Unfortunately, the wobble of the folding stock make it very hard to do. Once I found a way to stick something between the stock receiver to tighten up the fit, 125 m target hits became possible (and fun).

What I find confusing is that SOR/98-462 under Part 1 - Prohibited Firearms, number 40 says:

"The firearm of the design commonly known as the Skorpion Auto Pistol, and any variant or modified version of it."

and here's a link to see what I'm talking about:

http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-98-462/page-2.html#h-4

Can anyone shed some light on the apparent contradiction? did 98-462 get repealed or changed ? The gov't site says it's up to date. Are there 2 totally different things called "skorpion" ?

Basically the term "auto pistol" was its undoing, CSA markets this as a rifle, and built from scratch as a semi auto. In layman's terms this is basically comparing a military m16 (FA Prohib) to an AR 15 (SA Restricted)

^^^^
Nope unless you can find original Cz91s metal 380 mags. I had a handful of those mags at one time and they were DAMNED expensive. I'm not to big of a fan of plastic mags (ie... Famae saf)
