NEA Non-Restricted Rifle? "NEA25"

I wonder if/when the copyright expires it will be possible for someone like Norinco to produce them, their m4 clones are dang cheap but decent. I know the MV/MH is meant to be a precision rifle, and thus costs a lot of money. I just want a cheapo one I don't have to worry about abusing in the woods :)

I could not afford a MV , or so I thought. But I couldn't afford to keep buying less expensive rifles that don't live up to my expectations.(SU16/ Jard48/Xcr/ etc.). So I found a way to afford the MV , hoping that for what it cost , it should meet my expectations. (Under 1 MOA and reliable) and be similar to an AR. Yet to be unproven, but for 5 K , I sure hope so. If your willing to pay $1500 for an NR AR10 then you shouldn't expect too much. Regards to if its $1500 or $5000 , it's only money and you can't take it with you, so enjoy it while you can:)

That's what worries me about the modern varminter. If there are multiple reports from people who are getting 1 moa and having reliability I would jump on buying one. That's what I expected from the modern hunter but I don't think it's proven that enough. Some people have had good experiences and others not so much.

Personally I could care less how big of a douche any of these guys are, if they build a rifle I can afford, that performs as promised and they stand behind it, I'll consider buying it.

The MH/MV look like a high quality product but the lack of confirmed accuracy results makes me very hesitant to consider dropping that sort of scratch. For that money I would want a guarantee.

NEA baggage aside, if they manage to get this thing off the ground with an NR status I'd give it a serious look. Only thing is, for $1500 I question that it's going to be a quality product. I was on board to get the NEA 15 too in the beginning but they dropped a turd. I sure won't be a beta tester for the new gun.

1 MOA should be minimum. I don't have much knowledge of the MH rifle but I did shoot one once.I thought it was cool, and nice to shoot. It was heavier than I would want in a BC hunting rifle and the gentleman that owned it remarked that he probably wouldn't be taking it sheep hunting, which I certainly agreed with! I thought it would be fun to hunt with in the flatlands, though. I really haven't followed the MH stuff and always assumed it was a quality, accurate rifle, but if it won't do MOA, what's the point? You can get a sub MOA hunting rifle with a quality stock off the shelf for $1000-2000

Tell me what's the difference between the Mall Ninja everyone likes to make fun of and someone dressing up like an Operator??

Both are posers.

So when is it OK to wear a Velcro blood type patch then??!?!

Can I keep the one I have on my apron, for when I'm in my kitchen operating on vegetables?!? Those cucumbers are slippery little bastards and I'd like the medic to be able to start the transfusion en-route to the field hospital I have set up under my bathroom sink. If he gives me the wrong universal blood type or doesn't know my type is "AX-+" then I might not even make it past the extra large doggie bowls I have strategically placed underneath my kitchen window to drown tiny home invaders.

You guys might make fun of people like me but last time I was practicing my elite operator skills in the kitchen and cut myself with a butter knife the paramedic told me he liked my patch and asked where he could get one.

I hate to break the bubble of those wearing (and perhaps worse, those selling) blood type patches but, before you get a single blood product in Canada, your blood type is going to be determined by a blood test. You could have your blood type tattooed on your forehead, doesn't matter.

This thread delivers. Where is that popcorn emoticon.....

If you have a medic show up that'll start giving you typed blood on the basis of a patch on your clothes, that might actually be an argument for packing a gun. Shoot him before he treats you...he's a danger to you and presumably others as well.

Nobody that can put blood back in you will do anything but ignore a patch with a blood type.

What if you're wearing someone else's jacket/tactical bib/whatever?

What if you bought the wrong patch?

Nobody is going to do anything with a patch like that but cut it off you along with whatever other garment is in the way.

I have a MH you don't need to spend $5,000 for one base model is $3,600
The MV base model is $3,300
I have a MV on order nothing fancy just a basic model
My hunting rifle budget is stretch to the limit . haha
I have no clue if my MH is a MOA rifle it hits what I aim and its reliable !
I'm varry happy with it only complaint is it heavy

More often then not it would be Can't "justify" a particular expensive rifle, it must not be worth it. Most people will be able to afford it IF it is something they truly want. :)

Agreed. 5K is in the realm of possible for a lot of people. The real question is whether or not that non restricted status is worth about 3K to you? Because you can actually buy some nice rifles for the 2K mark but they are restricted.

NEA apparently wants to get rid of this discrepancy. If they produce a decent product this time around I am all for it. You run into the law of diminishing returns very quickly with these types of rifles. More money doesn't mean more accurate. To be honest, fit/finish for me is nice but it really takes a back seat to the most important question. Does it shoot? If not then I really don't care how many bells/whistles it has or whether or not it's restricted/non restricted.

I agree 100% like a said I'm happy with my MH but ther is always room in the stable for a accurate and reliable NR rifle and if it's cheaper then so much the better.

Get a POS from an "overseas military contractor" or an overpriced POS from a wannabe Vietnam war hero...

Don't disrespect anybody's service.

He's not. Said person was busted boasting about being a sniper in Vietnam which was a load of BS. There was a thread called " Stolen Valour " in Off Topics which many made reference to this false claim and other shenanigans by said person.

Calibre did a review of one of them back in late 2014 but the entire story featured a grand total of one paragraph on performance. I really wish that magazine would review rifles in the way that American Rifleman does. AR isn't the be-all, end-all, but there's a recognized methodology, testing and conclusion in every review.

At any rate, I have to laud this thread. It's featured personal slurs, both by readers and those in the industry, a debate over acceptable fashion, praises and attacks of two companies' products (neither of which actually seems to be owned by too many in the thread) and God knows what else I've already forgotten. Kudos to all.
