30-338 Win, 6mm-06 loads

Recently picked up a couple of oddball LH 700's.

Anybody have any favourite loads or stories/advice to share re these two cartridges?

Had a 30-338 some years back. 308 Norma Mag data is pretty much interchangeable. Closest thing I have to a 6mm-06 is a 240 Gibbs, which has a little more case capacity. 240 Wby is very close in case capacity, so you can use starting data for that cartridge and work up. - dan

I owned a 30-338 for several years. It is very close to the 308 Norma Mag, as was mentioned.

My pet loads were with the 180 Partition. 74.0 grains of Norma MRP for 3120 fps,
and 73.5 grains of H4831 for 3050. Both loads shot sub-moa in my rifle, a Rebarrelled M70 Winny.

Loading a wildcat 6.5/06 . I'm using 25/06 brass with 120 gr Hornady AMax bullets on top . Primers were Fed Prem Match Lge Rifle W/ H- 4831 Powder. Start around 46 gr. I get sub moa with a few grains more. Have'nt put them thru the chrony yet , but expect them to be a decent velocity.

Good info gents. I've got some H4831 on hand as well as some H1000, Imr4831 and Rl22. Should get me started. Also have a bunch of 7828 kicking around, might be a tad slow maybe?

IMR 7828 will work fine with 180's and 200's in that 30-338. Dave.

I think you've gotten 6-06 and 6.5-06 mixed up

Just loaded up my first test loads 2 nights ago. Hitting the range today after I get some sleep. These nightshifts are killing me...

I've loaded 180 Gr Hornady IL FB over 70, 71, 72 gr of H4831 and 180 gr IB's over similar charges of the same powder.
