Hey guys, as the title states, have you ever saw one in a store in Canada? I've had one of these in mind for awhile, but no clue where to look.

If you google, it's always American sites that pop up.

Any leads appreciated.:)

REDL Sports (metro Vancouver area) is a Canadian importer for Traditions.

They don't deal directly with the public, but if you contact them they can probably put you in touch with a shop that carries side hammer's and is willing to special order for you.

I ordered a few Traditions Hawken's and Kentucky's through my rep back 3 or 4 months ago. The last word is "they are still coming up from the States" (I wanted to have them on the shelf when the Revenant hit the screens - oh well :) ).

So it may take you a while, they stock the in-line Traditions stuff, but all the "traditional's" are special order - they will do it, it's just they don't stock them up here.

Being a black powder muzzleloader, can you find a dealer in the US who will send one up to you?

I thought I had read that getting a bp rifle from the USA was okay (track of the wolf, and one other place), but that recently it changed, and wasn't possible?? Midway and other places that have them listed, specifically state no shipping to Canada. I want one, but not sure if I want one bad enough to import myself.

I think they can still be sent up. I think it's just that there are more dealers though that won't bother. Just a matter of finding the right dealer. I think TOTW still sends to Canada. Or if you are in the US just bring one back yourself.

It is my understanding that flintlocks can be shipped no problem but persecution is just like shipping a regular firearm (Dixie gun works for example). My wife got me a crocket kit for Christmas a couple years back. She had Hillfolk black powder supply order it for her. Good people to deal with.

I've heard of them, a Saskatchewan outfit? Any idea on the cost all said and done?

How has your experience been with the rifle?

In the past 6 months both my dad and I have taken muzzleloading caplock rifles into the US with no paper work and there were no problems at the US customs. As is being said in another thread running in this forum right now, black powder muzzleloaders, both flintlock or caplock, are not considered firearms in the US. Black powder cartridge guns are another story. I think dealers that don't want to ship are doing it because of their own store policy and don't want the bother. If you happen to be going to the US, just bring it back yourself.

Don't know what she paid for it. Yes Hillfolk is fom saskatchawn.
It was a very easy kit to put together just had to bend the hammer to line up with the nipple. I made it a little tougher by adding some inlays and rust browning the barrel. Shoots very good and is very accurate but I have only shot it at 50 yards +/-. It is my understanding that is about the effective range of a .32.
I've been using .310 balls, .010 patch and .15 grains of fffg.
