.357/38 lever guns. What are your favorites?

I have one of the Browning 92s. It is a very nice rifle. Friend has a Marlin. One advantage of the Marlin over the Browning is that the Marlin will feed .38 Specials. The Browning needs .357 length cartridges. For reduced loads in .38 brass, I just seat out the bullets.

Thank you for this. I'd assumed either 38/357 could be used so this is good to know.

Or consider being different and get a pump.

Just as light (6 lbs) with a ten shot tube magazine, easy handling in the field with their thin receivers, faster cycling and less sight picture disturbance than a lever and did I say they were different?

I guarantee that once my hubby gets a chance to work on the rifle it'll cycle just about anything.
He's a trained gunsmith and a licensed machinist among other things.
We have Rossi 92s that started life rough as heck outa the box that will almost come when you call them they're so slick.
He once loaned a friend a Rossi 92 in 357 mag that he had smoothed and "desaftied" and didn't really want to sell.
The guy was super impressed and offered more and more and we finally caved when he reached $800 and let it go.
This was for a rifle we paid $475 for new a couple of years earlier.

I find my Henry Big boy sooo smooth out of the box, at first i was not sure if it was stripping a round... JP.

The one I checked out was very pretty and slick and would have been a keeper if it weighed 2 pounds less and was $200 less.
Apparently it takes more brass weight wise to equal the strength of steel.
Makes sense.

We're buying a Henry Frontier 22LR with the fancy wood and octagon barrel to see what this Henry craze is all about.
Apparently they don't put the plastic front sight band on this model any more after complaints from customers.
Supposedly the Henry rivals the old Marlin 39A in smoothness and accuracy.
If that goes good we might look at a Henry center fire.

Tuned Rossi 92 carbine in 357/38spc is hard to beat.
The steves gunz tune up kit with the instructional dvd is excellent.

The H001T model? I think you're going to like it... a lot. It's just a tad front-heavy because of the octogonal barrel, but once you get used to it, it's one sweeeeeeet shooter. :)

I have another BB on the radar a 357 mag carbine weighing 7 pounds... A beauty... JP.

That smooth, huh? Wow. When you go slow, does it cycle in a single foward motion or like the winchester/rossi you have to give it a little bit more pus to pop up the round in the chamber?

i picked up a new winchester 73 in 357 mag. its expensive but worth the wait saving for it. i actually sold my original win 92 to buy it. don't regret it for a second. and the 73 has got to have the slickest, fastest action of all lever guns.

That is a beautiful piece! I will add one of those in 45 Colt/20" to my list.

Hmm... Ok, I don't have a Chiappa. But I've never seen the words "Chiappa" and "beautifully made gun" on the same page before, much less in the same statement. Did I miss on something and they've suddenly become desirable?
