So I am looking for someone to explain to me how to get the firing pin out of the bolt of a marlin 1893. There are 2 pins in the bolt, would I remove one of these, both of these. I am unsure and cant seem to find anywhere that explains.

The firing pin is a two piece safety firing pin. You will need to remove both pins to remove the entire firing pin.

Flip the bolt bottom side up and knock the two pins closest to the center line. You may have to give it a good wack with the hammer to drive those pins. You might want to start drifting the pins using a taper punch then switching to a standard pin punch or you might end up bending your pin punch if they're in there good.

...and what is the 1893 you're working on? Just curious, they are very cool rifles. I found one a while back in 38-55 built in 1905. Looks like a 30 year old rifle with a little patena. Took 3 wks just to ease the bolt outta the lever to get it apart without damaging the screw head. I doubt if this one had been apart in decades. Once apart it was just a little gungy, no rust, no pitting.

Why are you replacing the firing pin?

30-30 built in 1898. Replacing pin because the old one broke. My dad gave it to me was his great grandfather's I believe so going to refinish it as original as I can and give it back to my dad. Took his first deer with it so refinishing will be a little present to him.
