Precision/Sniper/Tactical

FINALLY got around to shooing my .260 Remington!

This build was done up by Terry at Black Art Rifle Company. I had a rifle built up around 2 years ago, trued Rem 700 with a Shilen SS select match barrel, 3lb tuned trigger, 20moa badger rail, badger rings. Initially the rifle sat in a different McMillan A3 stock, I ended up never shooting the rifle and re-purposed the stock for another project. The Barreled receiver sat in my gun safe for almost a year...I then sold it to another CGN member who also planned on making a build out of it...but he never got around to shooting it either!! I had always felt sort of bad for selling the rifle and saw that it came back on EE for sale. I jumped on the opportunity and got it back. I then ordered another McMillan A3 stock. It finally came in and I sent the B/R to ATRS to bed the rifle, install a new DBM bottom metal. They did an absolutely wonderful job and I just received the rifle today and off to the range. Thank goodness I had loaded up some H4350 in lapua brass with 139gr Lapua scenars...39.0 - 42.0gr.

I was able to get to the range to test the rounds. So far I have a really good starting point of H4350 @ 40.5gr w/ a COAL of 2.800". I have to play with some 0.2gr increments and change seating depth now.

Topped the rig with a NF NXS 5.5-22x56mm w MOAR reticle.

Now that I can post pictures, I thought I should throw one or two up of my latest addition!

11 pounds on my bathroom scale, without the bipod. The KRG X-ray is one of the best chassis on the market IMO and works with the T3 perfectly, the only problem is our current exchange rate.

Gonna bring a shovel next time and level off a spot in the dirt to shoot from. Almost had some excellent groups but my form just isn't where it needs to be. Practice practice practice!

looking to buy a Ruger precision Rifle, .308 win caliber for $1,699.99 from Lanzshootingsupplies.com ... just wondering if it for sure does meet the non restricted firearms restrictions and if such a gun would be worth the money? thanks

Yes it is non restricted. Is worth it, that depends on your needs...

looking for a solid Moose hunting rifle, herd some pretty good things about it. just don't want to dish out that money if its not going be a very good gun.

Should be accurate enough. Most people think that they (and other tactical chassis rifles) are pretty heavy for lugging around the bush. But eat your wheaties and let us know.

At 9.7 pounds, didn't think that would be too bad, looking for a really actuate decently powerful gun. Don't need anything too powerful but was also looking at the norinco M14 but everything I read says its alittle heavier and less acturate.

Far too long/heavy to carry in the bush. Add another 2-3 pounds for scope, rings and full magazine. If your running a bipod I'd bet you'd be closer to 15 lbs and 42" long.

This just arrived on Friday. Going to drive out to Merritt with a couple of buddies next weekend and muck around a bit :)

Now that is a sniper rifle!
I'd be so tempted to get one, just finding a place close enough to shoot would be a pain. I found a 1100m spot, maybe 1600m, but I'd want 2k for a 50. Then add the ammo up, and I'll always be broke haha.
