looking to buy an AR 180b

Hello I'm looking for an AR 180b in decent condition preferably located in Ontario will pay for shipping if not. Fired one at a friends and really enjoyed it
 
One sold yesterday for $1300 and there is another if you look a few days back in the modern military and black rifles.
 
I am interested as well, and that sounds like a really good price actually. I am waiting for access myself I really want to snag a 180b or an 858.
 
$1300 is way low, that's why that one sold nearly instantly. I'd be amazed if you ever see another for less than $1600, but anything is possible on the EE!
 
1300 was a great price. Wouldnt be surprised if the next one was 1600-1800.

That being said Ive beard som QC issues with 180bs.

Also isnt the receiver polymer? Id like to see a metal one.

I believe the original rifles had metal receivers, whilst the later ones are polymer. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me can chime in. I would definitely prefer metal, nothing wrong with the polymer just a personal preference.

The AR18/180 rifles had stamped and spot welded sheet metal recievers. Quality depended on the manufacturer. My Costa Messa is pretty nice.

I believe the AR180B's were a redesign of the original AR180 using a polymer lower and cheaper furniture to keep the price down.
The AR180B also uses standard AR magazines unlike the AR180.

One would have to wonder why they couldn't be imported. Aluminum, steel and polymer AR-15 lowers are common here and this is a direct replacement part so I don't know why getting these into the country would be a problem as long as the manufacturer had an export permit.

I have two 180Bs so I would be interested myself as long as the price wasn't ridiculous.
 
The key issue, which NEA ran into when going down this route, is that any AR180B type rifle development would require classification as it would be a new firearm. This classification would likely trigger a revaluation of the current Non-restricted status of the AR180B. It would likely be deemed a variant of the AR180, and therefore prohibited.
 
Why would that be?
Wouldnt a new copy just be given an FRT 'child" number? (Same as original, with a -1, -2, etc)

so where is NEA at with their build? or did they give up before even making one to submit
