Really, I don't need another Sig but since need has nothing to do with it, is there anyone, anywhere in Canada who has these? Does anybody actually own one in Canada? I'd take a 226 or 229 in pretty much any cartridge I could....anybody else gone on the quest for one and had luck?

I fondled one at CRAFM the other day. Very nice. But I can think of 2 other guns to buy before dropping the cash on this fine specimen. Maybe after that's done
For the price, I'd be tempted to look at a slightly used X5 unless the details of the Legion hold a particular draw. They don't for me at current retails prices but they are nice guns with great triggers by all accounts so I understand the attraction. I think it is hard to beat the X5 (even an allround) if we are talking p226s.
Well, an X5 is on the list too, I don't like to limit myself! But I have an itch to try the Legion, been hearing about the trigger and all around 'fit' on the SIG forum, and have convinced myself that I must have one. A member over that pointed me at a P226 in .40 that is sitting at Wild West in Edmonton currently. Lovely price.....but I'll stop and have a look next time I'm down there. Pretty sure it will still be there!
If you are looking for the most recent generation of X5, you will need to be patient because they are made in Germany and the export ban is still in force. Plus, the X5 is not only more expensive but also target the competition shooter. All made in stainless steel, therefore more heavy. The Legion serie is a limited edition duty gun with some enhancement. The action job alone is worth $200. Pair of exclusive G10 grips, xray night sight and PVD coating. For $1900 is it worth it? Keep in mind that the X5 will be more expensive.
If I bought a legion, that would be the one I'd get too.
I suspect you are not going to see new edition X5s here for awhile and production of the new versions may move to the US from what I understand. Would love more details on this. The only new ones that seem to be popping up are some original special edition versions (which are Level 1s so they are fantastic but 4K... and the cosmetics aren't for everyone).
A new Legion is going to run close to, or over 2K depending on where you live. You can find used X5s for that in excellent shape. Even Level 1s are not too far off that.
If I was looking for more of a special edition duty type gun like the Legion, I'd be going right for that X5 Tac Ops at CSC. Less money, better gun imo. Heck, I'd also be more tempted by an X5 short for $1400 and then get a trigger job. Both German
U.S. made X5's supposedly to be available south of the border 3rd quarter (from Sig rep at ShotShow); no word on how long after that for Canada. U.S. Mastershop X5's and an all new U.S. made P210 to follow not long after.
The made in Germany argument doesn't mean anything to me. Well not anymore. My X5 all around went twice for repair vs. my MK25. The internal extractor is a terrible idea IMO. For action sport, the X5 is still king though.
That might be the case for some for sure. For me, my German Sigs have been so flawless, accurate and well finished compared to my US versions, that I have developed a bias. To be fair, they were also a little more expensive.
You didn't mention if the issue was extractor related but it appears to be based on your post. From what I've read the 1st gen extractor seemed to be having some issues in 9mm. They changed the style for some of the later model Gen 1's and the Enhanced versions. Supposed to fix the problem but I've not dealt with it personally so can't comment any further than that.
My current stable of Sigs is heavily biased to the Elites, I really like the beavertail feel and, yes, look. I have a P220 Match Stainless Elite, and that takes care of any target shooting I would want to do. A P220 Equinox, and P220 SS Elite, P226 SS Elites in 9mm and .40, P226 E2 Elite in 9mm, and a P229 Dark Elite in 9mm. I also have a 1978 dolphin nose P220 in 9mm with the euro mag release (that I think I may list)....so I don't really have a 'need' either for an X5 or Legion. But that darn Legion is just calling me, and once I get something in my head. I'd already be all over the one at Wild West if it was in 9mm, I tend to shoot them the most just for cost, and I already have a .40 SS Elite. But I may just get it anyway. I'm going to check with irunguns first though and see what they can do about getting the P226 in 9mm for me. I'd almost go for a P229 Legion, but the whole barrel length thing would ruin it for me, I've grudgingly learned to live with it on the Dark Elite but I hate that barrel poking out past the slide, it just looks wrong to me. Anyway, if I get one, I'll post up some pics down the road. I have a feeling it's an itch that isn't going to get an immediate scratch. I can't bring myself to sell a Python to get a Sig. Yet.
